About the Role
Join a clinical AI compiler team building systems that turn medical standards into structured, executable decision logic. This research-focused role combines rigorous experimentation with production engineering to improve the reliability and traceability of clinical decision support.
What You'll Do
Build pipelines that parse clinical documents and transform their content into validated, executable modules.
Design and refine a target syntax for representing guideline logic, including exclusions, precedence, and recommendations.
Run experiments across open and closed models, fine-tuning approaches, and constrained decoding methods.
Develop datasets, benchmarks, metrics, and adversarial cases to assess source fidelity, logical completeness, and recommendation correctness.
Work with clinicians and technical leaders to evaluate outputs and guide system design.
Turn model failures into clear hypotheses and experiments, then ship effective improvements into production.
Build deterministic validators using static analysis, constraint solving, or formal methods to surface ambiguity and contradiction.
What We're Looking For
At least 3 years of research or industry experience, or final-year PhD or postdoctoral experience.
Experience conducting frontier AI research or engineering, and shipping ML or NLP systems to production.
Production-level Python, PyTorch, and Transformers experience, plus experience with LLM evaluation, training, or prompt engineering.
A bachelor's degree or higher in computer science, machine learning, mathematics, or a related technical field.
Clear technical writing, including the ability to explain failed experiments and uncertainty.
Experience with compilers, program synthesis, formal methods, static analysis, IR design, constraint solving, SAT/SMT, or DSLs is valuable.
Healthcare, safety-critical, or regulated-domain experience and a relevant PhD are also valuable; familiarity with FHIR or HL7 v2 is useful.
Comfort with ambiguity and cross-disciplinary collaboration, and willingness to attend in-person offsites several times per year.
Must be authorized to work in the United States or Canada.
Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: USD $250,000 to $400,000 annually. Visa sponsorship is not available.
Location
Fully remote, with the primary location in Canada. Candidates may also work remotely from the United States.
