Senior .NET Software Developer (Costa Rica)

We're looking for a talented and versatile Senior Software Developer with strong experience in .NET technologies including C#, C#-based web services/APIs, DevExpress, SQL Server, and desktop application development to join our team. In this role, you'll take ownership of software from design through production. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, QA, and other stakeholders on prioritized project work, new features and enhancements, defect resolution, deployments, and ongoing application support. We are 100% remote but candidates must reside and be authorized to work in Costa Rica. Responsibilities: Design, develop, maintain, and enhance software applications using C# and the .NET ecosystem. Collaborate with product owners, developers, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver new features, enhancements, and bug fixes. Develop and maintain C#-based web services and APIs. Write efficient, maintainable, and well-tested code following established development standards and best practices. Troubleshoot, debug, and resolve application defects and production issues. Participate in application deployments, releases, and ongoing production support. Design and optimize SQL Server database objects, queries, and stored procedures as needed. Contribute to the continuous improvement of application architecture, performance, reliability, and maintainability. Perform code reviews and provide technical guidance to other team members. Participate in technical discussions and help drive solutions from requirements through implementation. Experience and Skills: System Ownership Experience supporting and enhancing production software throughout its lifecycle. Experience working within established applications and evolving complex systems over time. Technical Expertise Strong experience developing applications with C# and the .NET Framework/.NET platform. Experience building and maintaining C#-based web services and APIs. Strong SQL Server development experience, including database design, query optimization, and troubleshooting. Experience working with DevExpress controls and components. Experience with application installation, deployment, and maintenance. Strong debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills. Ability to balance maintainability, performance, quality, and delivery timelines. Collaboration and Leadership Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Experience participating in code reviews and sharing technical knowledge across the team. Ability to work effectively in an agile environment with changing priorities. Self-motivated and comfortable working independently in a remote environment. Continuous learner who stays current with software development best practices and technologies. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of professional software development experience using C# and .NET. Experience developing and maintaining web services and APIs. Strong experience with Microsoft SQL Server. Experience working with DevExpress or similar enterprise UI frameworks. Experience supporting production applications, troubleshooting issues, and delivering enhancements. Experience with software deployment and release processes. Strong understanding of software design principles, object-oriented programming, and application architecture. Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills. Ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams in a fully remote environment. Nice to Have Experience with WinForms desktop application development. Experience with installer technologies such as InstallShield, WiX, or custom C# installers. Experience modernizing legacy .NET applications. Experience with Azure DevOps, CI/CD pipelines, and automated testing. Experience working in highly regulated or enterprise software environments.
