Senior Full Stack Software Developer (Costa Rica)

We're looking for a talented and versatile Senior Software Developer with strong experience in Python and modern front-end technologies (JavaScript, TypeScript, or React) to join our team. In this role, you'll take ownership of software from design through production, and use AI agents as part of your regular development workflow. You'll work closely with product managers, engineers, QA, and other stakeholders to deliver features and solutions for our clients. We are 100% remote but candidates must reside and be authorized to work in Costa Rica. Responsibilities: Design, build, and maintain web applications across the stack, from backend APIs to dynamic frontends. Own production software throughout its lifecycle, driving complex initiatives independently from design through deployment and support. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including product, design, and DevOps to ship high-quality software. Develop RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPI. Build responsive, dynamic front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, React, or comparable technologies. Design scalable distributed systems and microservice architectures. Deploy and manage applications using AWS serverless technologies and related cloud infrastructure. Use AI agents as part of the development workflow for design, planning, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation, and apply engineering judgment to validate and refine that work before it reaches production. Design, build, and integrate AI agents and agentic workflows to automate engineering tasks and solve product challenges. Mentor peers through technical leadership and code reviews. Experience and Skills: System Ownership Experience owning production software throughout its lifecycle. Ability to independently drive complex initiatives from design through production. Strong accountability for customer and business outcomes. Technical Expertise Experience designing scalable distributed systems and microservice architectures. Strong cloud and DevOps experience. Good debugging, troubleshooting, and production support skills. Ability to balance speed, quality, scalability, and maintainability. AI-Driven Engineering Demonstrated experience using AI agents as a core part of software development. Ability to use AI for design, planning, implementation, testing, debugging, and documentation. Strong engineering judgment to validate and refine AI-generated work before production. Experience designing, building, and integrating AI agents and agentic workflows to automate engineering tasks and solve product challenges. Understanding of prompt engineering, tool orchestration, context management, and evaluation techniques for AI-powered systems. Collaboration and Leadership Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to mentor peers through technical leadership and code reviews. Comfortable working with ambiguity and driving work forward independently. Continuous learner who is open to new tools and engineering practices. Minimum Qualifications: 5+ years of experience building backend applications with Python and FastAPI or similar. Strong knowledge of REST API design and implementation. 3+ years developing and deploying applications using AWS serverless technologies and related cloud infrastructure. Experience developing front-end applications using JavaScript, TypeScript, or React. Proven ability to validate, refine, and take full ownership of AI-generated designs, code, tests, and documentation before deployment. Demonstrated experience working in an AI-first engineering environment where AI agents are a standard part of daily development workflows. Experience designing, building, and integrating AI agents or agentic workflows to automate engineering processes or deliver product capabilities. Strong cloud and DevOps experience.
