At YTEC, we are passionate about building high-quality, custom technology solutions that help businesses work smarter and grow. We build system integrations, workflow automations, and web platforms for clients across a variety of industries.
We are looking for a Senior Next.js Engineer who knows the modern Next.js ecosystem inside out and can take ownership of front-end architecture, development, performance, and quality across our projects.
This is not a generalist front-end role where Next.js is simply one of many technologies. We are looking for someone with deep, hands-on production experience with Next.js who understands how the framework works, why its different rendering and architectural approaches exist, and how to make the right technical decisions as applications grow.
You’ll work closely with our developers, QA, DevOps, product owners, and clients, helping us build maintainable, performant, and well-engineered web applications while also raising the technical level of our front-end development.
Your mission
- Design and build modern Next.js applications that remain maintainable, scalable, and performant as they grow.
- Take ownership of Next.js architecture and technical decisions, understanding the performance, scalability, and maintenance implications of those decisions.
- Work deeply with React and TypeScript, building reusable components, patterns, and front-end foundations that can be used across projects.
- Make informed decisions around Server Components, Client Components, SSR, SSG, ISR, CSR, streaming, caching, routing, and data fetching — and understand when and why to use each approach.
- Work closely with our back-end developers to integrate APIs, business logic, authentication, and data efficiently and cleanly.
- Take ownership of front-end quality from development through production.
- Diagnose production issues by reading logs, investigating errors, tracing problems, and working directly with our DevOps and sysadmin teams rather than simply handing issues over.
- Identify and resolve performance bottlenecks, including rendering performance, bundle size, network requests, caching, and client-side JavaScript.
- Improve Core Web Vitals, accessibility, UX, and overall application performance.
- Establish and improve front-end development standards, architecture patterns, and best practices across the company.
- Review code, challenge technical decisions when necessary, and help other developers improve without creating unnecessary bureaucracy.
- Work with our QA team to ensure applications are thoroughly tested and help establish strong front-end testing practices.
- Continuously evaluate the Next.js ecosystem and introduce improvements where they provide real value to our projects.
Your profile
- 5+ years of professional front-end development experience, with deep experience in React and TypeScript.
- 2+ years of hands-on production experience with Next.js.
- You understand Next.js beyond the basics. You can explain and confidently work with:
- Server Components and Client Components
- SSR, SSG, ISR and CSR
- Rendering and hydration
- Routing and layouts
- Data fetching and caching
- Server-side and client-side execution
- Middleware
- API integration
- Performance optimization
- Deployment and production considerations
- You understand why you are making an architectural decision, not just how to implement it.
- Strong understanding of React architecture, component design, state management, hooks, composition, and reusable UI patterns.
- Strong understanding of how architectural choices affect maintainability, performance, bundle size, scalability, and developer experience.
- Experience measuring and improving front-end performance using tools such as Lighthouse, Chrome DevTools, Core Web Vitals, profiling, and bundle analysis.
- Strong experience integrating front-end applications with REST APIs and back-end systems.
- Comfortable debugging issues across the full application stack and working with developers, QA, DevOps, and sysadmins to find the root cause.
- Good understanding of testing, Git, CI/CD, deployments, monitoring, and production maintenance.
- Experience working on complex business applications, SaaS products, web platforms, or custom software is highly valuable.
- Excellent English and the confidence to communicate directly with clients, product owners, and technical stakeholders.
- You take ownership, care about quality, and are comfortable making decisions and defending them when necessary.
- You enjoy helping other developers become better and naturally raise the technical standard around you.
Nice to have
- Experience with Python/Django, .NET/C#, or SQL and an interest in understanding the back-end systems your front-end applications interact with.
- Strong knowledge of accessibility and WCAG.
- Experience with modern front-end testing tools such as Playwright, Cypress, or Jest/Vitest.
- Experience with design systems and component libraries.
- Experience with Docker, cloud platforms, CI/CD pipelines, observability, or infrastructure.
- Experience establishing front-end standards or architecture across multiple teams or projects.
- A good eye for UI/UX and design quality.
At YTEC, you'll work on challenging custom software projects rather than repetitive product work. Our solutions involve system integrations, workflow automation, and web platforms, which means you'll encounter interesting technical problems and have a real opportunity to influence how they are solved.
You’ll join a highly skilled and technical team where expertise and ownership are valued. We keep communication lines short, avoid unnecessary bureaucracy, and give people the freedom to make meaningful technical decisions.
As a Senior Next.js Engineer, you'll have significant influence over our front-end architecture, development standards, and technical direction. You'll also have the opportunity to help shape how front-end development evolves within YTEC as we continue to grow.
At YTEC, you can expect:
- Competitive salary based on experience and expertise.
- Remote work with occasional team gatherings and activities
- Challenging projects across different industries.
- A highly technical and collaborative team.
- Significant influence over Next.js architecture and front-end standards.
