Staff Frontend Software Engineer (React.js/Next.js) - Full Remote Portugal ABOUT THE OPPORTUNITY We are looking for a Staff Frontend Software Engineer to join an international technology-driven environment focused on building scalable, high-performance digital products used by global audiences. PROJECT & CONTEXT You will work on modern frontend platforms and distributed digital solutions using React.js and Next.js in cloud-native environments. Projects involve designing responsive and secure interfaces across multiple devices and platforms while collaborating closely with Product Managers, Backend Engineers, Designers, QA Engineers, and DevOps teams. The engineering environment follows Agile methodologies including Scrum and Kanban, with strong emphasis on Test-Driven Development (TDD), Shift-Left testing strategies, observability, and continuous delivery practices. Depending on project requirements, occasional national or international travel may be required, estimated between 0% and 15%. WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR (Required) Minimum 10 years of professional software engineering experience Expert-level knowledge of Vanilla JavaScript Strong hands-on experience with React.js Strong experience developing applications with Next.js Experience designing scalable, performant, and maintainable frontend architectures Strong knowledge of responsive UI development and modern frontend best practices Experience with Unit Testing and Integration Testing Strong understanding of Test-Driven Development (TDD) and Shift-Left methodologies Experience working in Agile environments using Scrum and Kanban Ability to work autonomously in self-organized teams Strong problem-solving and analytical skills Experience mentoring engineers and contributing to technical leadership initiatives Strong communication and collaboration skills Fluency in English NICE TO HAVE (Preferred) Professional experience with Azure Cloud Experience with observability and monitoring tools such as New Relic Exposure to cloud-native frontend architectures and distributed systems Experience contributing to frontend standards, governance, and architectural roadmaps Previous involvement in performance optimization and frontend scalability initiatives Experience collaborating with international and cross-functional engineering teams Knowledge of CI/CD practices and frontend deployment automation Experience working on high-traffic or enterprise-scale digital platforms
