We are the largest non-NHS provider of end-of-life care in the UK, the only provider across all 4 nations, delivering community nursing and hospice care across the country, while providing information and support on all aspects of dying, death, and bereavement. Our leading research pushes the boundaries of what we know about good end-of-life, and our campaigns fight for a world where everyone gets to have the best possible quality of life while living with an illness they’re likely to die from. The care and support we provide is highly valued by the people we care for and their loved ones, but at present we are only reaching around 10% of dying people at the end of life. Right now, one in four people in the UK with a terminal illness, do not get the care or support they deserve at the end of their lives. We're looking for an experienced and compassionate Senior Nurse (Band 6) to join our Hospice Care at Home service across the North-West. This is a unique leadership opportunity for a registered nurse who enjoys developing people, influencing standards of care and creating a positive team culture. Whilst you'll bring a strong clinical background in palliative and end-of-life care, this role is primarily non-clinical , with a key focus on managing, supporting and developing a team of Healthcare Assistants delivering care in the community. Working closely with the Clinical Nurse Manager, you'll provide day-to-day leadership, oversee staffing and service delivery, support recruitment and retention activities, conduct observations and reviews, and ensure our teams have the tools, training and support they need to provide exceptional care. The role will involve occasional travel across the North-West region and periodic night-time observations to support staff development and quality assurance. Please note that these observations do not attract unsocial hours enhancements . Hours: Monday – Friday, with occasional 10pm-1am night observations. Contract: Permanent - 30 hours per week (4 days across M-F) Salary: £39,959 - £48,117 per annum (pro rata), plus a full range of Marie Curie benefits. Location: Home working with some required travel across the North-West for training and overnight observations Key highlights: Leading, motivating and developing a team of Healthcare Assistants within the Hospice Care at Home service. Supporting recruitment, induction, performance management, wellbeing and ongoing development of staff. Promoting high standards of care through coaching, supervision, observations and quality review activities. Managing staffing levels, workload allocation and rostering to ensure a safe and responsive service. Supporting service coordination and responding to operational challenges as they arise. Working collaboratively with colleagues across community healthcare, hospice and wider multidisciplinary teams. Contributing to service improvement, audit activities and the development of best practice. Supporting the Clinical Nurse Manager and deputising when required Registered Nurse on NMC Register Relevant Nursing Degree Mentorship / Teaching qualification Experience caring for patients with palliative care needs (hospice/hospital/community) Understanding of steps involved in audit and research Experience of formal and informal teaching Understands benefits of working with a patient-centred philosophy of multidisciplinary team working. Computer literate Driving licence and ability to travel across the place.
