Responsibilities
Our newest opportunity is for a talented Senior Planning Engineer to join our award-winning team based in Doha, Qatar.
This position is responsible for ensuring successful project delivery in line with client requirements through the development and implementation of project-wide Work Breakdown Structures (WBS), detailed master schedules, and procurement and logistics plans. The role will also involve working closely with consultants, contractors, and project stakeholders to develop, review, and monitor contractual schedules, with a particular focus on road and infrastructure projects.
We envisage success in this role to include:
- Developing and maintaining project master schedules, work breakdown structures, and planning and scheduling metrics.
- Reviewing, monitoring, and updating contractor construction programmes, ensuring alignment with project milestones and contractual requirements.
- Monitoring project progress through site data, installed quantities, labour hours, productivity measurements, and other performance indicators.
- Analysing project performance, including earned value, productivity, cost, and schedule variance, and preparing regular progress reports.
- Reviewing contractor submittals, material delivery schedules, procurement logs, and daily progress updates to identify potential delays.
- Identifying actual and potential changes to project scope and assessing their impact on project costs and schedules.
- Recommending corrective measures and recovery plans to address delays and improve project performance.
- Coordinating with project management, construction, and QA/QC teams to implement work order procedures and monitor execution.
- Participating in contract administration and supporting the assessment of programme-related contractual matters.
- Reviewing and evaluating contractor work programme submissions, progress updates, and recovery schedules.
- Maintaining effective communication with clients, contractors, and project stakeholders on all planning and scheduling matters.
Qualifications
To be successful in this dynamic opportunity, we envision that your career journey to date will include:
- A Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related discipline.
- A minimum of 14 years of overall professional experience, including at least 7 years in a similar planning engineering role on road and infrastructure projects.
- Demonstrable experience in road and infrastructure projects.
- Strong knowledge of project planning, scheduling, monitoring, progress measurement, and project controls.
- Proficiency in Primavera P6, Microsoft Project, and Microsoft Office applications.
- Experience in reviewing contractor programmes, assessing delays, developing recovery schedules, and monitoring project performance.
- Strong analytical, reporting, coordination, and communication skills.
- Qatar MMUP/UPDA engineering registration is preferred but not mandatory.
