As Senior PMO you will be central to the successful delivery of our most complex programmes. You will provide the governance, control, reporting, financial oversight and delivery assurance that give leaders the confidence to make sound decisions at pace.
Working alongside Programme Directors, Project Managers, Finance and senior stakeholders, you will keep programmes visible and in control across scope, schedule, budget, risk and dependencies. This is a senior, influential position. You will act as a trusted partner to programme leadership, holding the standards that keep delivery on track and helping teams perform at their best.
Location
This role is based at our Loughton office and operates on a hybrid working model, combining office-based and remote working. Occasional travel within the UK, Ireland, and internationally will be required.

Key responsibilities
Programme governance and control
- Establish and maintain governance frameworks, standards and controls that keep programmes operating within agreed parameters.
- Coordinate steering committees, governance forums and programme reviews, and maintain accurate records of decisions, actions and approvals.
- Monitor performance against approved baselines and delivery plans, and promote best-practice programme and project management across the organisation.
Planning, reporting and delivery assurance
- Maintain integrated programme plans, delivery dashboards and a clear view of milestones, dependencies and critical activities.
- Produce accurate, timely reporting for programme leadership and executive stakeholders.
- Provide assurance on programme health, surfacing emerging risks and delivery concerns early, and support project managers with planning, scheduling and reporting.
- Develop and maintain the metrics, KPIs and performance indicators that drive informed decisions.
Risk, issue and dependency management
- Own and maintain risk, issue, assumption and dependency registers, with mitigation plans that are documented, owned and actively managed.
- Escalate significant risks and delivery concerns through the appropriate governance channels.
- Facilitate cross-functional collaboration to resolve challenges, and monitor the internal and external dependencies that affect performance.
Stakeholder management and communication
- Build effective relationships across internal teams, customers and partners.
- Prepare executive presentations, governance packs and programme updates that give stakeholders the accurate information they need to decide well.
- Facilitate workshops, review meetings and governance discussions.
Financial management and forecasting
- Support programme budgeting, forecasting and financial tracking, monitoring spend against approved budgets and identifying variances.
- Work closely with Finance and Programme Managers to maintain financial accuracy and reflect current and forecast performance in reporting.
- Assist with business case tracking, resource forecasting and investment reporting.
Resource and portfolio coordination
- Support resource planning and capacity management across programmes and projects.
- Maintain visibility of demand, priorities and resource allocation, and help leadership balance competing priorities.
- Coordinate consolidated portfolio and programme reporting when required.
Continuous improvement
- Identify and drive improvements to PMO processes, governance and reporting capability.
- Develop standardised methodologies, templates and controls, and lead lessons-learned activity.
- Coach and support project teams in PMO best practice and governance requirements.
Essential skills and experience
- Significant experience in a Senior PMO, PMO Lead, Programme Office, Programme Governance or Programme Controls role.
- Proven experience supporting complex technology, transformation or business change programmes.
- Strong grasp of project and programme governance methodologies and delivery assurance practice.
- Experience preparing executive-level reporting and governance documentation.
- A track record of tracking budgets, risks, issues, dependencies and programme performance.
- Advanced Microsoft Excel and reporting capability, with strong analytical skills to assess performance, spot trends and recommend corrective action.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management, with the ability to influence outcomes without direct authority.
- Highly organised, with exceptional attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple priorities at once.
- Strong commercial awareness across budgeting, forecasting, financial governance and resource management.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel, Power BI and PowerPoint, and in tools such as Microsoft Project, Jira, Azure DevOps, Smartsheet or Wrike.
Desirable skills and experience
- PRINCE2, MSP, PMP, AgilePM or equivalent certification.
- Lean Six Sigma qualification.
- Experience supporting multi-disciplinary and geographically dispersed teams.
- Experience within technology, SaaS, managed services, infrastructure or digital transformation environments.
- A bachelor’s degree or equivalent professional experience.
