What you'll be doing


As a Senior Private Banking Client Specialist, you will support the full Private Banking client-service needs, including the new account opening, account maintenance, money movement, transaction processing, and proactive client outreach. You’ll manage complex or sensitive requests and serve as a resource for colleagues on servicing, operational controls, and procedures. Working closely with clients, private bankers, operations, and internal partners, you’ll coordinate requests through completion, resolve training and onboarding, and identify opportunities to improve service delivery. You’ll ensure assigned requests are completed accurately, within established timeframes, and in accordance with applicable policies, procedures, and approval requirements.

How you'll succeed

  • Client Experience and Relationship Support – Deliver exceptional service by managing complex client inquiries and service requests with professionalism, urgency, and care. Build trusted relationships with clients and internal partners while supporting Private Bankers in delivering a high-touch client experience. Proactively identify client needs, anticipate service issues, and coordinate solutions across business lines.
  • Operational Excellence and Risk Management –Process complex transactions and service requests, including account opening, account maintenance, and money movement. Confirm that requests are properly authenticated, authorized, approved, and supported by complete documentation before execution. Coordinate workflows, monitor assigned exceptions, and escalate discrepancies or unresolved matters within established timeframes. Maintain complete records in the appropriate systems.
  • Leadership and Coaching – Serve as a resource and mentor for Client Service Advisors by providing guidance, answering questions, and reinforcing procedures and best practices. Support onboarding and training for new team members. Promote accountability, teamwork, and consistency across the team.
  • Escalation and Problem Solving – Manage escalated or sensitive client issues with sound judgment and professionalism. Partner with leadership and business partners to identify root causes and implement solutions to improve service delivery and operational effectiveness. Help identify trends, gaps, or recurring issues and contribute to process enhancements.
  • Collaboration and Business Support – Partner closely with Private Bankers, operational teams, and leadership to coordinate client servicing activities and ensure timely follow-up. Support special projects, operational initiatives, and procedural enhancements that improve team effectiveness and client experience. Contribute to a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.
  • Risk and Quality Controls – Apply established controls when completing client requests, protect confidential information, and identify and escalate exceptions, unusual activity, or documentation gaps. Perform assigned quality reviews and help colleagues understand and consistently apply procedures.

  • You have extensive experience. You bring at least 5 years of relevant banking or client-service experience including account servicing, transaction processing, and resolving complex client requests.

  • You have strong banking knowledge. You understand deposit products, account opening and maintenance, money movement, authentication, approval requirements, and operational controls.

  • You have a coaching mindset. You have experience coaching colleagues and supporting onboarding and training and enjoy supporting others’ growth.
  • You demonstrate leadership qualities. You take initiative, influence others positively, and help foster a positive, accountable team culture.
  • You act with professionalism. You handle confidential information with discretion and uphold high standards.

At CIBC, we offer a competitive total rewards package.  This role has an expected salary range of $80,000 - $90,000 for the Chicago, IL market based on experience, qualifications, and location of the position.  The successful candidate may be eligible to participate in the relevant business unit’s incentive compensation plan, which also may include a discretionary bonus component.
