The role

As Senior Process Plant Engineer, you are the technical spearhead of our projects. You own the process design from concept through basic engineering, set the technical direction for the multidisciplinary team, and make sure the plants we design are safe, efficient and operable. This is a full-time hybrid role based in the Netherlands, with international travel and close collaboration with our teams in West Africa and other countries. The role is hybrid, with occasional work in our offices in Amsterdam or Eindhoven.

What you’ll do

• Develop the process design basis, block flow diagrams, PFDs and P&IDs for greenfield and brownfield plants
• Prepare mass, energy and utility balances, production yield analyses, equipment lists and battery limits
• Select and review technologies and vendor packages together with the client’s process team
• Lead hazardous area classification and process safety studies: HAZID, HAZOP-level reviews, and fire, explosion and solvent-handling risk assessments (ATEX)
• Define utilities, tank farms, wastewater treatment and energy systems, and align them with mechanical, piping, electrical, instrumentation, civil and fire protection disciplines
• Support plot plan and layout development, 3D/BIM design reviews and constructability reviews
• Provide process input to capital cost estimates and CAPEX-OPEX optimisation
• Plan process deliverables and man-hours, and guide and review the work of process engineers
• Act as technical contact for clients, and support installation, commissioning and start-up

What you bring

• MSc or BSc in Chemical or Process Engineering (or a related technical field)
• 10+ years of process engineering experience in the process industry, preferably edible oils and fats, oilseed processing, food & agro or chemical plants
• Knowledge of relevant unit operations, for example solvent extraction and solvent recovery, refining, crystallisation and fractionation, filtration and distillation
• Proven experience producing PFDs, P&IDs, heat and mass balances and equipment datasheets, ideally on greenfield projects from concept through basic engineering
• Solid process safety knowledge: HAZID/HAZOP, ATEX (dust and vapours) and hazardous area classification, with familiarity with loss-prevention standards such as NFPA and FM Global
• Ability to lead and review the work of other engineers and coordinate with other disciplines
• Fluent English and comfortable working with international teams and clients
• Willingness to travel for site visits and client workshops

Pluses

• Background in operations, start-up or commissioning
• Experience in West Africa or other emerging markets
• Familiarity with 3D/BIM environments (Autodesk Revit) and process simulation tools
• Dutch, French and other languages
