Sr. Procurement Buyer – Indirect Castings & Forgings

Position Summary

The Sr. Procurement Buyer – Indirect Castings & Forgings is responsible for managing the day-to-day procurement and supplier coordination activities associated with castings and forgings supplied through machining suppliers. This role serves as the primary operational contact between machining suppliers, casting and forging manufacturers, and internal stakeholders to ensure uninterrupted material flow, timely purchase order execution, and effective resolution of supply-related issues.

The position plays a critical role in supporting production continuity by maintaining visibility into supplier commitments, delivery performance, capacity constraints, tooling readiness, and supply risks. The Sr. Procurement Buyer will proactively monitor order execution, manage escalations, and collaborate cross-functionally to drive supplier accountability and continuous improvement.

This level would typically report to the Manager, Indirect Procurement – Castings & Forgings and serve as the primary execution lead for a portfolio of casting and forging suppliers.

Key Responsibilities

Procurement & Order Management

  • Manage procurement activities for castings and forgings supporting machining suppliers.
  • Ensure purchase orders are accurately placed, acknowledged, and executed according to business requirements.
  • Track order status, supplier commitments, production schedules, and delivery performance.
  • Coordinate forecasts and demand requirements with suppliers to support capacity planning and production needs.
  • Monitor supplier lead times and shipment schedules to ensure material availability.
  • Review supplier order confirmations and identify potential shortages or delivery risks.
  • Support management of NREs, tooling investments, and production readiness activities.

Supplier Performance Management

  • Monitor supplier performance metrics including delivery, quality, responsiveness, and capacity utilization.
  • Conduct regular operational reviews with machining suppliers and casting/forging manufacturers.
  • Drive corrective actions and recovery plans for missed deliveries and supply disruptions.
  • Maintain supplier scorecards and performance reporting.
  • Support supplier development and continuous improvement initiatives.

Supply Risk Management

  • Identify potential supply constraints, capacity limitations, and operational risks.
  • Develop mitigation and contingency plans to prevent production interruptions.
  • Monitor supplier financial, operational, and geopolitical risks.
  • Escalate critical supplier issues and shortages to leadership with recommended recovery actions.
  • Coordinate emergency recovery activities during supply interruptions.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with Supply Chain, Operations, Engineering, Quality, Finance, and Strategic Sourcing teams to resolve supply-related issues.
  • Support engineering changes, supplier transitions, and new product introduction activities.
  • Facilitate communication between machining suppliers and casting/forging manufacturers to ensure alignment on production priorities and delivery requirements.
  • Participate in capacity reviews, business planning discussions, and supplier strategy meetings.

Data Analytics & Reporting

  • Maintain procurement dashboards and reports for supplier performance, delivery commitments, and supply risks.
  • Analyze supplier performance trends and identify opportunities for improvement.
  • Provide regular updates to management regarding supply status, recovery plans, and critical risks.
  • Support development of executive-level reporting and business reviews.

YOU MUST HAVE

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, Business Administration, Engineering, Operations Management, or related field required.
  • 5+ years of procurement, supply chain, supplier management, or sourcing experience.
  • Experience supporting castings, forgings, machining, metals, or industrial manufacturing supply chains preferred.
  • Experience managing supplier relationships and purchase order execution.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, or equivalent.

The annual base salary range for this position is $85k - $128k. Please note that this salary information serves as a general guideline. Honeywell considers various factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to the scope and responsibilities of the position, the candidate's work experience, education and training, key skills, as well as market and business considerations.
