At ACT, Your Work Makes a Difference

Education has power -- a power that changes lives forever. It creates opportunities that lift up individuals, their families, and sparks societal change that echoes through generations to come. From our grassroots we have fought the good fight for inclusivity in education, and we remain devoted to helping anyone who struggles to access that power. This is what matters to us and we must do better -- we've never been more sure of our purpose.

ACT team members are part of an organization dedicated to a mission that has never been more important: Helping people achieve education and workplace success. Advancing that mission within our organization, by helping our team members achieve education and workplace success of their own, is core to our values. ACT values a diverse workplace and is committed to fostering an inclusive environment in which every team member has an equal opportunity to grow.

We want our team members to have the well-being and confidence they need to do their best work, in an environment where both they and ACT thrive. To support this, our total rewards include company paid life insurance, medical, dental, vision, flexible health and dependent spending accounts, 401(k) retirement savings with company match, paid holidays, paid time off, and so much more.

We are seeking a Senior Product Manager, Test Preparation and Practice to help us fulfill that mission. This role owns the vision, strategy, and roadmap for test preparation and practice across ACT's full assessment portfolio -- including the ACT, PreACT, WorkKeys, and future assessments. This leader is accountable for growing revenue and access across ACT's free and paid test prep offerings, managing ACT's external test prep partners, and building products learners are willing to pay for.

This role sits at the intersection of product, commercial strategy, and partnership management. The Senior Product Manager will define how free and paid test prep work together to bring more learners into the ACT ecosystem, grow wallet share against competing test prep providers, and increase customer lifetime value through a compelling prep and practice experience.

The finalist will be hired at the salary and level commensurate with their qualifications. For this position, we anticipate offering an annual salary between $120,000 - $135,000. ACT manages salaries within this range based on relevant factors, including skills, experience, and internal equity.

Location: This is a remote position, based in the United States.

Visa: Applicants must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for visa sponsorship.

What you will be working on:

  • Own the product vision, strategy, and roadmap for test preparation and practice across ACT's assessment portfolio, including the ACT, PreACT, WorkKeys, and future assessments.

  • Define the positioning and business model across ACT's free and paid test prep products -- balancing expanded access to free practice with sustained growth in paid product revenue.

  • Manage relationships with ACT's external test prep partners, driving joint roadmaps that grow revenue, improve existing products, and bring new offerings to market.

  • Evaluate and pursue new free or low-cost test prep partnerships to counter competitive threats and expand ACT's top-of-funnel reach, while protecting the value of ACT's paid portfolio.

  • Identify opportunities to capture greater wallet share from learners who currently spend on test prep with other providers.

  • Determine the right channel strategy for new practice tests and content -- owned portal, open web, paywalled digital product, or partner-exclusive distribution.

  • Lead the strategy for modernizing and repositioning ACT's existing signature test prep products, ensuring they remain differentiated and commercially competitive.

  • Define test prep and practice requirements specific to PreACT and WorkKeys, in addition to the ACT.

  • Partner with Marketing, Sales, and Market Research to position the test prep portfolio clearly and compellingly in the market, own pricing strategy for paid products, and grow B2B and B2C revenue -- including new B2B opportunities within the portfolio.

  • Define and track key product and business metrics to guide prioritization.

  • Represent ACT's test prep and practice strategy in partner negotiations, internal planning, and cross-functional forums.

  • Bring strong commercial judgment to every product decision -- balancing learner value, partner relationships, and revenue growth.

Role Progression:

Within 1 month: You will understand ACT's current test prep and practice portfolio, partner landscape, and competitive environment. You have begun building relationships with key vendor partners and internal stakeholders in Sales, Marketing, and Market Research.

Within 3 months: You will have developed a clear point of view on where free and paid test prep should each play, and how to grow revenue and access simultaneously. You will have contributed to an updated test prep roadmap and are leading at least one active partner or product initiative.

Within 6 months: You will be executing on the roadmap, driving measurable progress on revenue and engagement targets, and have a clear plan in motion for modernizing ACT's existing test prep products.

This could be the job for you if you have (minimum requirements):

  • At least 5 years of progressive product management experience, with a proven track record of owning and growing a commercial product portfolio.

  • Experience with freemium, subscription, or B2C monetization models, including converting free users into paying customers.

  • Demonstrated experience managing external vendor or licensing partnerships, including negotiating joint roadmaps and commercial terms.

  • Strong command of product roadmap planning, prioritization frameworks, and agile development processes.

  • Experience using customer insight and competitive analysis to shape pricing, positioning, and go-to-market strategy.

  • A track record of balancing multiple stakeholder interests -- internal teams, external partners, and customers -- to reach commercial decisions.

  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to represent product strategy to partners, executives, and cross-functional teams.

  • Strong business acumen and comfort owning revenue, engagement, and lifetime value metrics as core measures of success.

It's a plus if you have:

  • Experience in the test preparation, EdTech, or education content industry.

  • Experience building or scaling a free-to-paid funnel, including content or product used for acquisition.

  • Familiarity with adaptive learning, digital practice tests, or assessment content products.

  • Experience with affiliate, licensing, or wholesale (e.g., publisher) commercial models.

  • Experience exploring or launching B2B extensions of a primarily B2C product.

  • Background working with high school students, families, or educators as end customers.
