Job Description

Are you an experienced Product Owner with a strong background in Financial Markets and in-depth knowledge of Equities? Do you know how trading and execution flows work from front to back, and can you translate complex business needs into clear priorities for IT teams? Then this could be an interesting opportunity for you.

For ING Financial Markets, we are looking for a Senior Product Owner to lead two squads within the Global Equity Listed Products (GEP) domain. The squads are responsible for applications within the Fidessa, Ullink and Horizon landscape, supporting key processes across trading, execution and trade capture.

Your role

Financial Markets is ING’s gateway to professional markets worldwide. Within Financial Markets and Group Treasury, the FMGT Tribe is responsible for delivering change across a complex international technology landscape.

As Product Owner, you will take ownership of the roadmap and backlog for two squads within Global Equity Listed Products. You combine Financial Markets expertise, product ownership and IT delivery knowledge to determine what needs to be delivered and in which order.

You work closely with stakeholders across Trading, Sales, Risk, Operations, IT and Procurement. You assess new demands, make prioritisation decisions and translate business requirements into clear outcomes for the squads.

You will lead two squads consisting of IT DevOps Engineers and Customer Journey Experts and work closely with neighbouring Product Owners and the Product Manager.

What will you do?

You will:

  • Own and prioritise the roadmap and backlog for the Fidessa/Horizon squads;
  • Balance strategic change, regulatory requirements and operational stability;
  • Translate business needs into clear requirements, user stories and acceptance criteria;
  • Drive improvements across the end-to-end execution and trade capture flow;
  • Make clear trade-offs between competing priorities, scope, timelines and risks;
  • Coordinate change and releases with stakeholders, vendors and operations;
  • Translate incidents and operational risks into preventative improvements;
  • Lead key Agile ceremonies, including refinement, sprint planning and reviews;
  • Identify when tactical solutions could create long-term risks and prioritise sustainable improvements;
  • Align with other Product Owners and stakeholders to deliver end-to-end value.

About the environment

The Global Equity Listed Products area consists of several squads responsible for the end-to-end delivery and evolution of ING’s technology landscape across Equity Structured Products, Listed Derivatives and Fixed Income.

You will operate at the intersection of business and technology, where strategic change, regulatory requirements and the stability of critical Financial Markets applications all need to come together.

Requirements

For this role, it is important that you have:
  • A Bachelor’s degree;
  • At least 7 years of experience within Financial Markets and/or Treasury, including ownership of change delivery in complex stakeholder environments;
  • Proven knowledge of cash Equities and Equity-based structured products;
  • Strong understanding of the associated front-to-back flow, from trading and execution through trade capture and downstream processing;
  • Solid understanding of Financial Markets product flows, particularly execution and trade capture, including key controls, risk points and operational handoffs;
  • Experience working in an IT delivery environment with DevOps teams;
  • Proven experience owning prioritisation and making clear trade-offs between competing demands;
  • Strong stakeholder management, communication and presentation skills in English;
  • Experience working in an Agile/Scrum environment.

Nice to have

It would be an advantage if you have:

  • Experience with trading platforms such as Fidessa, Horizon or similar platforms, including vendor release and change processes;
  • Exposure to other asset classes such as leveraged derivatives, listed commodities and/or fixed income;
  • Experience working in a regulated environment with audit-ready decision-making and control-aware delivery;
  • Strong hands-on ownership of roadmaps, backlog quality and delivery outcomes.

Benefits

  • A secondment-to-permanent (detavast) construction, starting with a one-year contract and with the intention to transition into a permanent position with ING.
  • A salary range of € 6.728,13 – € 7.887,71 gross per month, based on 36 hours per week and depending on experience.
  • Additional benefits, including holiday allowance, a 13th-month payment and pension contribution.
  • Hybrid working, with an expectation of being in the office on average two days per week.

Do you have the Financial Markets knowledge and Product Owner experience to set direction for complex trading technology? We would like to hear from you.
