  • Temporary opportunity for 12 months
  • Full-time role at 35 hours per week + FlexTime
  • Location: open to all NSW DPIRD office locations – regional location encouraged/hybrid working supported 
  • Salary ranges from $133,348.00 to $146,945.00 + super & leave loading 

About The Role 

As a Senior Programs Officer, you will play a key role in shaping and delivering programs that support the sustainable growth of NSW's resources sector. Working across a diverse portfolio, you will lead the planning, implementation and evaluation of major initiatives, ensuring projects are delivered effectively, transparently and in line with strategic priorities.

Partnering with industry, government agencies and internal stakeholders, you will provide expert grant program management advice, drive continuous improvement and contribute to governance, risk and performance frameworks that support successful outcomes. About You

We are seeking a capable and motivated program and project management professional who enjoys working in complex environments, building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes. You are highly organised, solutions focused and confident balancing competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail, governance and risk management requirements.

As Our Ideal Candidate, You Will Bring

  • Demonstrated experience managing complex grant programs, projects and initiatives from planning and assessment through to delivery, monitoring, evaluation and completion.
  • Strong governance, risk management and compliance capability, including the development of governance frameworks, performance reporting, continuous improvement initiatives, and oversight of funded projects and contracts.
  • Proven ability to assess applications, monitor milestones and outcomes, identify risks and issues, and provide practical recommendations to support informed decision-making.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across industry, government, and internal teams, and provide clear advice on compliance, project scope and risk.
  • Highly developed written and verbal communication skills, including the preparation of briefs, submissions, reports and program documentation.
  • Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple projects and grants while maintaining a focus on quality outcomes.
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively, influence outcomes and contribute positively to team success while upholding accountability, integrity and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Sound knowledge of contemporary project and program management methodologies, best practice principles and performance management approaches.

Who We Are

NSW Resources, a division of the Department of Primary Industries and Regional Development, is responsible for the strategic management, regulation, and sustainable development of New South Wales' mineral and energy resources.
