Drawing on our deep pool of expertise, we create innovative solutions with our clients worldwide. Egis is an organisation with the capacity to make meaningful industry and community change in the space of place-making, sustainability and creating connected cities. Different to other engineering firms, Egis offers true end-to-end capability across the entire design-to-operation lifecycle, offering advisory, architecture, engineering, design, asset management and operations services. We are committed to creating great teams doing innovative work and would love you to join us to Impact the Future. Due to continued growth within Egis’ Project Controls discipline, we are seeking a Senior Project Controls / Cost Controller to join our Brisbane team. This role suits an experienced project controls professional who can independently support project managers and multidisciplinary teams across consulting, engineering, mining, infrastructure, construction or comparable project environments. Whilst cost control is the key focus, the successful candidate will also bring practical capability in schedule maintenance and analysis, project coordination and document management. Experience with Oracle ERP Financials or Oracle Project Portfolio Management is highly regarded, but strong project controls fundamentals, sound judgement and the ability to learn systems are more important. Key Responsibilities The Senior Project Controls Specialist will maintain the project control baselines used to manage the project, monitor change and progress, identify trends and risks, and evaluate performance, to support project decisions. The role is also responsible for providing the Project Controls Lead and project managers with information on the scope, progress, costs and forecast completion, whilst actively managing the project. Own the day-to-day cost control function for assigned projects, working directly with project managers and the Project Controls Lead. Establish and maintain project budgets, control accounts, cost codes and cost baselines in accordance with the approved scope and commercial arrangements. Prepare and maintain forecasts, estimate at completion, cash flow, commitments, accruals and value of work done, and reconcile these against financial systems and project records. Monitor actual and committed costs, revenue, invoicing, margin and project performance; investigate variances and data inconsistencies and recommend corrective action. Support change control by maintaining variation and change registers, assessing cost and schedule impacts, and ensuring approved changes are reflected in project baselines and forecasts. Produce accurate, concise project performance reports, including cost and schedule trends, risks and forecasting metrics. Maintain and analyse project schedules, progress updates, milestones and look-aheads; identify slippage, emerging constraints and cost-schedule impacts. Experience in P6 or MS Project is highly valued. Coordinate project controls inputs across project managers, technical leads, and delivery teams, following up actions and closing information gaps. Maintain project registers and controlled project records, including deliverables, decisions, changes, correspondence and reporting inputs. Support project setup, governance reviews, reporting cycles and closeout, ensuring required controls are proportionate to project size, complexity and risk. Contribute to project estimates, estimate reviews and budget development using available scope, quantities, rates, assumptions and historical information; document the basis and limitations of estimates. Work within and help improve Egis project controls processes, templates and systems, including the Oracle ecosystem. Provide early, direct advice to project managers and the Project Controls Lead on adverse trends, commercial exposure, forecast overruns, delays or unreliable project data. About You You are an experienced, practical project controls professional who is comfortable taking ownership of project information and working directly with project managers. You understand that good controls provide an accurate picture of project performance and prompt timely decisions. Relevant experience in project controls, cost control, project coordination or project finance within a project delivery environment. Demonstrated ability to independently support multiple project managers and manage competing reporting, forecasting and coordination priorities. Strong cost control capability, including budgets, actuals, commitments, accruals, forecasting, variance analysis, change control and project reporting. Working knowledge of project scheduling and the relationship between progress, time, cost and forecast outcomes. Advanced Excel capability and confidence working with complex project and financial data. Clear written and verbal communication, with confidence to question data, explain issues and follow up stakeholders constructively. Strong attention to detail without losing sight of the overall project outcome. A relevant project management, engineering, project controls, finance or business qualification is advantageous but not essential. Equivalent practical experience will be highly regarded if you are the right fit. Project Controls Practitioner (PCP), P6 or other relevant professional training or certification is advantageous. Experience with Oracle ERP Financials, Oracle Project Portfolio Management or similar enterprise project systems is highly regarded. Experience in consulting, mining, engineering, infrastructure, construction, EPC/EPCM, contractor or owner-side environments is welcomed. The Benefits Competitive remuneration and benefits. A structured learning and development framework to align with career progression goals. Brisbane CBD location with flexible working arrangements, including remote working options. An inclusive team culture that celebrates performance and rewards accordingly. Paid Primary and Secondary Carer Leave Policy, reflecting our commitment to work-life balance. Support structures like our Employee Assistance Program, professional mentoring, and buddy program for new starters. Opportunities to work on special interest projects. Opportunities to work across government, private and resource sectors. Opportunities to travel for work across multiple offices. Great cultural environment where teamwork and camaraderie are promoted and valued. Supportive leadership based on openness. Egis is committed to creating an inclusive, creative culture that embraces diversity and flexibility. We offer generous parental leave, support flexible work practices and strive to create an environment where employees can connect, collaborate, grow and succeed. We are expanding in Australia and New Zealand and are excited for you to join our growing team. APPLY NOW!
