Senior Project Manager (Project Flow)
Hybrid Working | Barbican, London | Technology | 14-Month Fixed-Term Contract
37.5 hours per week
At Nuffield Health, our purpose is to build a healthier nation. As the UK's largest healthcare charity, we're committed to improving the health and wellbeing of the communities we serve. Through investment in technology, innovation and continuous improvement, we deliver positive change that benefits our patients, colleagues and wider organisation.
We're looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to play a leading role in a major transformation programme focused on improving patient flow across our hospital network. This is a high-profile opportunity to help shape and deliver a complex portfolio of initiatives that enhance operational efficiency, improve patient experience and support better clinical outcomes.
Working across clinical, operational, and technology teams, you'll bring structure, pace and clarity to a complex delivery landscape, ensuring initiatives are effectively mobilised, sequenced and delivered while maintaining strong stakeholder alignment across the organisation.
As our Senior Project Manager, you will:
- Actively shape and value-engineer the programme, prioritising and sequencing initiatives to deliver the highest-value outcomes early, while protecting the longer-term strategic foundations the programme depends on.
- Develop and maintain integrated delivery plans across multiple workstreams, applying Agile principles where appropriate.
- Manage interdependencies, critical paths, risks and issues to ensure successful programme delivery to agreed timelines, budgets and quality standards.
- Create and maintain practical resource plans, identifying workforce requirements, onboarding needs and resource commitments across the programme.
- Collaborate with functional and business leaders to secure, coordinate and optimise resources across multiple initiatives.
- Lead programme budgeting activities, working closely with Finance to define, refine and manage costs, track expenditure and ensure financial transparency.
- Establish effective programme governance, including reporting frameworks, RAID management, decision-making forums and governance ceremonies.
- Build strong and effective relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including Executive leadership, providing clear updates and supporting informed decision-making.
- Coordinate activity across operational, clinical, support and technology functions, maintaining momentum and alignment to programme objectives.
- Proactively identify risks, constraints and delivery challenges, implementing appropriate mitigation strategies to support successful outcomes.
- Foster collaborative and efficient ways of working that support sustainable change and successful adoption of programme deliverables.
To succeed as a Senior Project Manager, you'll have:
- A proven track record of value engineering complex programmes, making evidence-based trade-offs between cost, scope, pace and benefit, and bringing forward early value without creating technical debt or undermining future capability.
- Experience mobilising and managing large-scale transformation programmes involving multiple workstreams, stakeholders and dependencies.
- Strong expertise in programme planning, delivery sequencing and management of critical paths across complex initiatives.
- Demonstrable experience in resource planning, workforce mobilisation and coordinating cross-functional delivery teams.
- Strong financial management capability, including budget ownership, forecasting, cost control and reporting.
- Experience establishing governance structures, programme reporting frameworks, RAID processes and delivery controls.
- Excellent stakeholder management and influencing skills, with experience engaging senior leaders and Executive-level stakeholders.
- The ability to work collaboratively across clinical, operational, support and technology teams to deliver successful outcomes.
- Strong communication, organisation and problem-solving skills, with the ability to bring clarity to complex delivery environments.
- A pragmatic, outcome-focused approach, with the ability to balance pace, quality and stakeholder expectations.
- PRINCE2, Agile, MSP or equivalent project/programme management qualification is desirable.
