As part of CBIZ’s client-focused and execution-oriented environment, the Senior Project Manager, Enterprise PMO is responsible for planning, managing, monitoring, and overseeing complex projects from inception through closure. This role provides leadership, structure, and visibility across related projects to help ensure outcomes are delivered within approved scope, schedule, budget, and quality expectations. The position partners with stakeholders, sponsors, and project teams to define success criteria, manage risks and scope changes, drive accountability, and support effective execution across initiatives. Essential Functions and Primary Duties Plan, manage, monitor, and oversee complex projects in accordance with Enterprise PMO standards, business priorities, and approved objectives. Operate as a trusted advisor on project issues, trends, risks, opportunities, and best practices within the scope of assigned responsibilities. Collaborate with stakeholders to define project success metrics, criteria, deliverables, execution approach, staffing needs, scheduling, and accountability expectations. Apply advanced project management best practices, methodologies, documentation standards, tools, and market awareness to support consistent and effective execution. Develop and maintain formal project documentation, including charters, plans, schedules, status reports, communication plans, risk and issue logs, and change control documentation. Proactively identify, assess, manage, and escalate scope changes, risks, issues, dependencies, conflicts, and decisions across complex projects. Develop communication plans and deliver timely, effective updates to sponsors, leadership, stakeholders, project teams, and other identified audiences. Accurately forecast project expenses, manage actuals within an appropriate variance of project budget, and coordinate with financial teams on budget. Work with 3rd party vendors, manage 3rd party resources, and manage 3rd party contractual and financial deliverables. Manage project team and key stakeholder meetings using clear, engaging, informative, and well-organized agendas, presentations, meeting minutes, and follow-up communications. Prepare and maintain accurate project status information and keep sponsors, leadership, stakeholders, and project teams informed of project progress, related issues, risks, and decisions. Identify and review opportunities for improvement and implement or recommend solutions to mitigate risk, optimize technology-enabled execution, and strengthen Enterprise PMO processes. Administer, maintain, develop, implement, or recommend policies, procedures, practices, and standards within the scope of assigned projects and Enterprise PMO responsibilities. Provide leadership, mentoring, coaching, training, and guidance to project team members or less experienced staff as appropriate. Perform other duties as assigned to support department and business needs. Preferred Qualifications Experience using project management tools, methodologies, dashboards, reporting tools, SharePoint, Smartsheet, or similar platforms. Accounting, tax, advisory, benefits, or insurance experience or support is preferred. Strong collaborative, conflict management, facilitation, and stakeholder engagement skills. PMP, Agile, Certified ScrumMaster, or related project management certification. Must be able to create and manage work breakdown structures, project schedules, project budgets, project risk registries, issue logs at an advanced level. Must be able to lead sprint planning sessions, organize and refine backlogs, lead sprint reviews and retrospectives, and guide teams new to Agile. Must be able to manage vendors, from contract negotiation through transition to operational support. Proven experience in business process improvement using information technology, and organizational change management related to new technology introduction. Public accounting firm experience or experience with tax or assurance product development is preferred. Knowledge of common business operations applications such as CRM and ERP, is preferred Experience managing Merger & Acquisition projects focused on technology transition and integrations is a plus. Reporting Relationships Works with minimal supervision from Enterprise PMO leadership. Provides guidance, mentoring, and project leadership to team members. May lead project teams as needed. Typically has no direct supervisory responsibility. Discretion and Independent Judgement Independently manages complex project activities and priorities. Advises stakeholders and coordinates project resources. Identifies and resolves project risks and issues. Recommends process improvements and best practices. Applies Enterprise PMO standards and methodologies. Minimum Qualifications College Degree or equivalent required 6 years related experience Expert technical knowledge Knowledge of industry regulations Ability to lead and coordinate the team activities of others Ability to formulate, document and recommend new policies and procedures Able to work in and lead a team Demonstrated ability to communicate verbally and in writing throughout all levels of an organization, both internally and externally Ability to travel as required by business and on-call availability
