Position Overview
We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to lead a major IT service and infrastructure sub-project within a large-scale technology environment. The role focuses on service development, process development, logistics-related processes, knowledge and release management, stakeholder coordination, supplier management, risk management, and project reporting.
The position requires strong experience in managing complex IT projects and applying classical, hybrid, and agile project management methodologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a project sub-area and take responsibility for the successful delivery of assigned project objectives.
- Drive the strategic development of IT services and support the organization in establishing and operating new services.
- Develop and optimize processes related to:
- Logistics
- International deployment and operations
- Knowledge management
- Release management
- Prepare regular and transparent project status reports for relevant stakeholders.
- Use project management and collaboration tools such as Jira, Microsoft Project, and Confluence.
- Coordinate and manage external suppliers, subcontractors, and service providers.
- Ensure timely, high-quality delivery and compliance with contractual requirements.
- Prepare and maintain comprehensive project documentation and performance records.
- Ensure that project activities and delivered services are fully documented and traceable.
- Manage communication with internal and external stakeholders regarding:
- Project progress
- Requirements
- Risks
- Escalations
- Deliverables
- Identify, assess, and proactively mitigate project risks.
- Develop appropriate strategies and corrective measures to address potential project crises.
- Coordinate dependencies and interfaces between project teams, suppliers, and other stakeholders.
- Support continuous improvement of project processes, services, and operational procedures.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Business Administration, Business Informatics, Computer Science, IT, Engineering, or a comparable discipline.
- Recognized project management qualification such as:
- IPMA Level D or higher
- PMI/PMP
- PRINCE2
- or comparable qualification.
- ITIL Foundation certification (v3 or higher) or demonstrable practical IT Service Management experience.
- Strong knowledge of established project management methodologies.
- Experience with project management and collaboration tools such as:
- Jira
- Microsoft Project
- Confluence
- Microsoft Office
- German: C1
- English: B1, according to CEFR.
Professional Experience
The successful candidate should demonstrate:
- At least 6 years of experience leading complex IT projects.
- At least 6 years of practical experience as a Project Manager using classical, hybrid, and/or agile project management methodologies.
- At least 2 years of experience as a project team member or consultant in digitalization projects within defence-related or comparable public administration environments.
- At least 2 years of experience in a project role involving IT service development.
- Proven experience managing complex project environments with multiple stakeholders and dependencies.
- Experience coordinating and managing subcontractors, suppliers, and external service providers.
- Experience in project reporting, risk management, stakeholder management, and project documentation.
- Practical experience with Jira or comparable project management tools, Microsoft Office, and MS Project.
