Capacity

Location

Start

Duration

Long-term engagement expected to continue through the current fiscal year and likely into the next.

About The Opportunity

Our client is launching a major AIOps initiative within its IT Operations, Governance and Operational Resilience organization. The company already manages IT operations through ServiceNow and is looking to mature that environment by introducing additional AI-driven capabilities, including ServiceNow Now Assist.

This is not a re-platforming effort. It is an enhancement of the existing ServiceNow ITOM environment designed to improve operational resilience, monitoring, efficiency and insight.

The initiative is still in its early stages. Executive leadership has approved moving forward, and the Senior Project Manager will join early enough to help define the project’s scope, structure, budget, governance and delivery approach before the broader implementation is fully established.

The ideal candidate is an experienced enterprise Project Manager who can bring structure to ambiguity, guide stakeholders through project formation and manage the initiative from planning through execution. ServiceNow ITOM experience is a significant advantage, but the core requirement is strong end-to-end project management expertise.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the end-to-end planning and delivery of an enterprise AIOps initiative within the client’s ServiceNow ITOM environment.
  • Help define the initial project scope, objectives, workstreams, milestones, budget and resource requirements.
  • Establish the project structure while the initiative is still being shaped, ensuring the program starts with clear governance and accountability.
  • Develop and maintain integrated project plans, schedules, RAID logs, dependencies and status reporting.
  • Coordinate across IT operations, governance, operational resilience, ServiceNow technical teams, business stakeholders and external partners.
  • Facilitate project discovery, planning sessions and stakeholder alignment.
  • Translate technical and operational requirements into clear project activities, ownership and delivery milestones.
  • Manage project scope, timeline, budget and stakeholder expectations from initiation through implementation.
  • Track project financials, forecast spending and report on budget variances, subject to the level of financial-system access provided.
  • Identify delivery risks, dependencies and decision points, and escalate them appropriately.
  • Provide clear project updates to senior and executive stakeholders.
  • Maintain project information within the client’s established project portfolio management environment.
  • Ensure project governance follows the client’s existing standards rather than creating a separate ServiceNow-based project management process.
  • Support operational readiness, implementation planning and the transition of new capabilities into ongoing operations.
  • Bring practical recommendations, lessons learned and leading practices from similar enterprise ServiceNow or IT operations initiatives.

Required Qualifications

  • Significant experience leading complex enterprise technology projects as a dedicated Project Manager.
  • Demonstrated ownership of project scope, schedules, budgets, risks, dependencies, governance and stakeholder communications.
  • Experience managing projects within ServiceNow environments, preferably involving ServiceNow IT Operations Management.
  • Understanding of IT operations, infrastructure monitoring, operational resilience or related enterprise technology functions.
  • Experience joining early-stage initiatives and helping define the delivery structure before scope and budgets are fully established.
  • Ability to operate effectively in an ambiguous environment and turn high-level executive direction into an actionable project plan.
  • Strong executive communication, facilitation and stakeholder-management skills.
  • Experience coordinating technical teams, operational stakeholders and external vendors or implementation partners.
  • Experience using an enterprise project portfolio management platform such as Planview, Clarity, Primavera or a comparable PPM solution.
  • Experience tracking project budgets, forecasts and financial variances.
  • Consultative mindset with the ability to advise stakeholders on project delivery risks, options and leading practices.
  • Availability to begin quickly and work at full capacity.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Direct experience managing ServiceNow ITOM implementations or major enhancement initiatives.
  • Experience with ServiceNow AIOps, Now Assist or AI-enabled IT operations capabilities.
  • Familiarity with ServiceNow Event Management, Discovery, Service Mapping, CMDB or adjacent ITOM capabilities.
  • Experience with operational resilience, infrastructure monitoring or enterprise service management programs.
  • Previous consulting experience delivering similar initiatives across multiple large enterprises.
  • Experience working within a Fortune 500 or similarly complex global organization.
  • Agile delivery experience, while remaining comfortable operating within traditional project governance structures.
  • PMP, PgMP, SAFe or relevant ServiceNow certifications.
  • Healthcare, life sciences or regulated-industry experience.

What Success Looks Like

Initial Stage

  • Key stakeholders, objectives and governance expectations are identified.
  • The current ServiceNow ITOM and operational resilience environment is understood at a project level.
  • Initial scope, assumptions, dependencies and risks are documented.
  • A practical project structure and working cadence are established.

Planning Stage

  • The project roadmap, workstreams, milestones and ownership model are defined.
  • Budget, resource and vendor requirements are clarified.
  • Key decisions and dependencies are elevated to the appropriate stakeholders.
  • Project plans and reporting are established within the client’s PPM environment.

Delivery Stage

  • The initiative is progressing against an approved plan with clear accountability.
  • Scope, schedule, budget and risks are actively managed.
  • Leadership receives concise and reliable project reporting.
  • Technical and operational teams remain aligned as new AIOps and ServiceNow capabilities move toward implementation.

Ideal Candidate Profile

The strongest candidate will be a seasoned enterprise Project Manager who has led ServiceNow ITOM or comparable IT operations initiatives and knows how to establish structure around a newly approved project. They will be comfortable working with technical teams without needing to serve as the solution architect, developer or Scrum Master.

They should bring a consultative perspective, strong project discipline and the ability to take ownership of the initiative from early planning through execution. Experience with Now Assist is valuable, but proven ServiceNow ITOM project leadership is the more important qualification. [Touchbase...am Manager | Meeting]
