This is an exciting opportunity to join Sydney Water as a Senior Project Manager, leading strategic planning programs that help deliver essential water and wastewater services for Greater Sydney. About the role As a Senior Project Manager, you'll lead a portfolio of critical planning programs and projects that enable Sydney Water's capital investment program. Working with a diverse range of stakeholders, you'll be responsible for driving projects from initiation through to completion, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and to the highest standards of quality, safety and governance. You'll also play a key leadership role within the System Planning & Land Acquisition team, coaching and developing project management capability while fostering a high-performance culture focused on collaboration, innovation, and customer outcomes. Key Responsibilities Lead the delivery of complex planning programs and projects, ensuring achievement of scope, schedule, budget, quality, and risk objectives. Develop Needs Phase business cases, project management plans, and governance artefacts to support project approvals and delivery. Build strong stakeholder relationships across Sydney Water, government agencies, consultants, contractors, and community groups. Drive stakeholder engagement and communication strategies to support successful project outcomes. Lead, coach, and mentor Project Managers and Assistant Project Managers, uplifting project management capability across the team. Ensure compliance with governance, procurement, contract management, and project management frameworks. Contribute to strategic planning activities that balance customer outcomes, operational performance, risk, and investment priorities. About You You are a highly capable planning project management professional who enjoys leading complex programs, developing people, and collaborating across large organisations to achieve outcomes. In addition to further qualifications in Planning, Project Management or a related discipline, you will also have Approximately 10+ years' experience delivering complex infrastructure planning projects. Experience within the water, wastewater, utilities, infrastructure, or government sectors. Understanding of infrastructure planning, strategic asset management and major capital delivery environments. Demonstrated leadership experience, including coaching, mentoring, and developing high-performing teams. Advanced project management expertise across scheduling, risk management, cost management, stakeholder management, and governance. Strong business case development, reporting, and commercial acumen. Excellent communication, negotiation, and influencing skills. Proven ability to manage competing priorities and deliver outcomes in complex stakeholder environments. Strong analytical and problem-solving capability with a focus on practical, outcome-driven solutions. Does this sound like you?
