Plan A Technologies is looking for a skilled Senior Python Developer to design, build, and maintain high-performance desktop applications on Linux environment systems. In this role, you will lead the architecture of responsive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using PyQt/Qt and integrate real-time video streaming/processing pipelines. You will optimize video rendering, handle low-latency frame processing, and ensure deep system-level integration with the Linux OS.

In this role, you will lead the architecture of responsive graphical user interfaces (GUIs) using PyQt/Qt and integrate real-time video streaming/processing pipelines. You will optimize video rendering, handle low-latency frame processing, and ensure deep system-level integration with the Linux OS.

JOB RESPONSIBILITY
- Design, build, and maintain robust desktop GUI applications using Python and PyQt (PyQt5/PyQt6) targeted for Linux environments.
- Implement real-time video streaming, decoding, playback, and frame manipulation using media frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, GStreamer, FFmpeg, or QtMultimedia).
- Architect multi-threaded Python applications to keep UI event loops smooth while running heavy video processing and network operations concurrently.
- Interface directly with Linux system services, hardware devices (cameras/video inputs), display drivers, and IPC mechanisms.
- Packaging Linux desktop binaries, managing dependencies, and optimizing memory/CPU usage for seamless video playback.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience in Python.
- Must have: Strong expertise with PyQt (PyQt5 or PyQt6) or PySide for complex desktop UI creation.
- Must have: Strong Linux desktop background (system libraries, process management, POSIX signals, packaging/deployment).
- Nice to have: Proven track record in video streaming & media processing (handling RTSP/RTP/HLS, video pipelines, low-latency playback, or frame buffer rendering).
- Nice to have: Experience integrating video/media frameworks like FFmpeg, GStreamer, or OpenCV with Python.
- Advanced knowledge of multithreading, asynchronous programming (asyncio), and concurrency in Python.
- Excellent problem-solving and communication skills.
- Excellent verbal and written English communication skills.
