Senior Python Developer

We are seeking a Senior Python Developer to join a hands-on delivery team working on an existing design and backlog, contributing directly to production backend development in a distributed, cross-functional environment alongside US-based stakeholders and EPAM peers.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain production-grade backend services using Python
• Design and implement REST or gRPC-style APIs, ensuring contract and proto compatibility across service evolutions
• Work with relational databases, including schema design, migrations, and query optimization
• Collaborate closely with the technical lead and EPAM engineers through pair programming and asynchronous communication
• Overlap with US time zones to support real-time collaboration with stakeholders
• Contribute to shared scope delivery within an existing backlog rather than discovery or consulting work
• Participate in mentoring and strong pairing practices with team members on the stream

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in production Python backend development
• Experience with API and service design, including REST or gRPC, contract definition, and proto evolution
• Skills in SQL and relational data management, including Google Cloud Spanner or equivalent transferable technologies, schema reasoning, and migrations
• Advanced communication skills in English, with the ability to collaborate with US stakeholders in a distributed team setting
• Flexibility to overlap working hours with US time zones

Nice to have

• Familiarity with AI Agents Development, including tools such as Orca, ADK, or Gemini
• Recent hands-on experience demonstrating current Python proficiency
• Capability to mentor and pair closely with engineers on shared project scope
