Senior Python Developer (Apache Airflow, ETL)

We are seeking a Senior Python Engineer for a production support/managed services role within a long-term engineering transformation program covering Australia and New Zealand. You will bring strong Python capability and hands-on Apache Airflow experience, support business-critical applications across the portfolio, resolve production issues, participate in an on-call rotation, and progressively adopt an AI-enabled SDLC using tools like GitHub Copilot.

Responsibilities

• Develop, enhance and maintain Python-based applications and workflows, including solutions using Apache Airflow
• Orchestrate and monitor pipelines using Apache Airflow to improve reliability and visibility
• Investigate issues, restore service during incidents and complete root-cause follow-ups
• Deliver KTLO support, maintenance and continuous improvements across multiple applications
• Collaborate with product and engineering stakeholders to clarify priorities and dependencies
• Apply problem-solving to assess change impacts, risks and operational tradeoffs
• Contribute to modern agile delivery within balanced cross-functional teams
• Participate in on-call support coverage as needed to meet operational requirements

Requirements

• Python proficiency with hands-on delivery of production-grade services or pipelines
• Strong independent coding capability: while we encourage using AI tools for productivity, you must be able to write, evaluate and troubleshoot code autonomously rather than relying on AI to generate solutions
• Hands-on Apache Airflow experience, including development, orchestration, troubleshooting and production support of workflows
• Managed services or production support exposure including incident response and service improvement
• Clear communication for working with stakeholders and distributed teams
• Adaptability to context switch across applications and competing operational priorities

Nice to have

• Java exposure as a secondary skill
• AWS exposure is a plus
• Familiarity with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot
• Experience working with Scrum or Kanban delivery practices
• Spec-Driven Development (SDD) and Test-Driven Development (TDD) experience
