Senior Python engineer

Overview

Help the team to deliver releases faster and more reliably through engineering automation, continuous validation, and streamlined deployment workflows. We build reusable capabilities that remove delivery bottlenecks and improve release speed, quality, and confidence.

As a Software Engineer supporting the team , you will build automation capabilities, backend services, and engineering tools across the testing and release lifecycle—including test case onboarding, reliable execution, failure diagnosis, and release validation. You will use LLM-powered coding agents and identify opportunities to apply AI across these workflows, improving both platform capabilities and engineering productivity.

We are looking for hands-on engineers with strong ownership, curiosity, and critical thinking—people who explore problems deeply, question assumptions, and validate conclusions with evidence. You will collaborate across teams and time zones within a coordinated delivery model, with shared responsibilities and clear handovers.

Work mode:

· Remote accepted for night shift

· Working hours are Monday through Friday, aligned with PST business hours.

· The role includes a rotating DRI (Directly Responsible Individual) responsibility, typically for one week at a time, with each engineer expected to take a DRI rotation approximately once every four weeks.

· During the DRI rotation, the engineer is expected to be available on demand within a 12-hour coverage window each day.

· Weekend availability is required only when support is needed for live-site issues during the DRI rotation.

Responsibilities

· Build scalable automation capabilities: Design and deliver backend services, engineering tools, and CI/CD integrations that connect test case onboarding, execution, diagnosis, and release validation into efficient, reusable workflows.

· Strengthen end-to-end quality and execution reliability: Expand automated scenario coverage, improve test and environment stability, and turn execution results into trustworthy signals for release decisions.

· Drive release quality and operational readiness: Investigate failures across test cases, pipelines, platform services, and BizChat experiences. Establish root causes, distinguish automation issues from product regressions, and collaborate across teams to resolve blockers and validate fixes.

• Accelerate engineering workflows with AI: Use LLM-powered coding agents throughout development and apply AI to test creation, onboarding, log analysis, and failure triage. Evaluate AI-generated solutions against requirements, tests, and observed system behavior, demonstrating measurable improvements in quality and efficiency.

• Advance engineering excellence and delivery effectiveness: Apply strong design, code review, testing, observability, and security practices; maintain actionable documentation and handovers; and address recurring bottlenecks across the delivery lifecycle.

Qualifications:

Required/Minimum Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field AND demonstrated software development experience

OR equivalent practical experience.

• Strong ownership, curiosity, and critical thinking: Take responsibility for outcomes, seek to understand how systems work, and investigate beyond surface-level symptoms. Question assumptions, consider alternative explanations, and use evidence to validate root causes. Follow through on resolution, collaborating and escalating when needed.

• Proficiency with LLM-powered coding agents: Effectively use agentic development tools to explore codebases, plan and implement changes, generate tests, and investigate failures. Recognize that AI-generated code and explanations may be incorrect or incomplete; independently verify outputs through code inspection, testing, and runtime evidence, remaining accountable for the final result.

• Solid engineering fundamentals and cross-system troubleshooting skills: Have a working understanding of Python, REST APIs, Git, and CI/CD workflows. Navigate unfamiliar codebases and investigate issues across automated test cases, execution environments, pipelines, platform services, and product behavior.

• Effective communication and collaboration: Clearly explain findings, evidence, and next steps; deliver scoped work independently; and collaborate across teams and time zones to support agreed delivery and release schedules.

Additional or Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with technologies such as FastAPI, PowerShell, Azure DevOps pipelines, Playwright, or Selenium; TypeScript/React experience for web-based tooling is a plus.

• Experience applying LLMs to engineering workflows beyond code generation, such as test onboarding, execution analysis, or failure diagnosis, with measurable quality and efficiency improvements.

• Experience improving automated test reliability and release readiness, including flaky-test investigation, test environment management, and production diagnosis using tools such as Kusto/KQL.
