Senior Python Engineer with AWS

About The Role

In this role, you will join as a Senior Backend Engineer, helping build and evolve software products for the oil and gas industry. You will work on internal and client-facing solutions, including an ESP monitoring system, chemical product optimization tools, and a growing data platform.

You will focus on backend development using Python and AWS Serverless technologies, designing scalable application logic, APIs, data workflows, and cloud-native infrastructure. This is a full-time, long-term remote role with a strong product focus and close collaboration with founders and cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain internal and client-facing products using Python
• Design and implement scalable backend solutions using AWS Serverless services, including Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB
• Build and maintain APIs using FastAPI
• Write Athena queries to interact with data stored in S3
• Create and manage Infrastructure as Code using CloudFormation, CDK, Terraform, or similar tools
• Build, maintain, and improve CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Use GitHub for source control, collaboration, and delivery workflows
• Develop application logic and product features aligned with business needs
• Collaborate with founders and cross-functional teams to align technical implementation with product and client priorities
• Support both internal product development and selected client delivery projects
• Contribute to troubleshooting, technical documentation, and continuous improvement of backend engineering practices
  
  
  

Requirements

• Strong Python development skills
• Deep hands-on experience with AWS Serverless services, including Lambda, Step Functions, S3, and DynamoDB
• Experience with Infrastructure as Code tools such as CloudFormation, CDK, or Terraform
• Experience building APIs using FastAPI
• Experience working with Athena to query data stored in S3
• Practical experience building and maintaining CI/CD pipelines using GitHub Actions
• Familiarity with GitHub for source control and team collaboration
• Strong focus on building application logic, backend features, and production-ready solutions
• Strong communication and collaboration skills
• Comfortable switching between internal product development and client delivery tasks
• Understanding of DevOps basics will be a plus
• Experience in oil and gas, data platforms, monitoring systems, or optimization tools will be a plus
