Role description:

We are seeking an experienced and proactive Senior QA Engineer to join our UK QA team. The ideal candidate will be capable of working autonomously across the full testing lifecycle, from requirements analysis and test planning through to execution, automation, reporting, and the production of contractual test documentation.

The role requires an individual who can collaborate effectively with project teams and stakeholders, understand business and technical requirements, identify risks, define appropriate test approaches, and deliver high-quality testing outcomes and associated deliverables with minimal supervision.

The successful candidate will contribute to the continuous improvement of quality engineering practices, test automation capabilities, and the adoption of innovative technologies, including AI-assisted testing approaches.

Role accountabilities:

• Create and maintain formal testing artefacts, including Test Strategies, Test Plans, Test Specifications, and Test Reports, aligned with contractual and regulatory delivery requirements.
• Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to understand requirements, identify risks, and define appropriate test approaches.
• Produce test estimates and contribute to project planning and delivery activities.
• Ensure appropriate test coverage through risk-based testing, requirements traceability, and quality assurance best practices.
• Develop, maintain, and enhance automated test suites and supporting frameworks using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Identify opportunities to improve quality, efficiency, and coverage through automation, tooling, process improvements, and AI-assisted solutions.

Qualifications & Experience:

• 5+ years of experience in software quality assurance.
• Experience creating and maintaining formal, auditable testing documentation in contractual, client-facing, or regulated delivery environments.
• Experience leading or coordinating testing activities across software projects.
• Experience analysing requirements, assessing testing risks, estimating testing effort, and defining test approaches.
• Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to work effectively across technical and non-technical teams.
• Hands-on experience developing and maintaining test automation using Playwright and TypeScript.
• Experience testing web applications, APIs, and integrated systems.
• Experience writing and executing SQL queries, with the ability to understand database structures and interrogate data for validation and analysis.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Experience working within regulated or contractual delivery environments.
• Experience testing within an Intelligent Transport Systems environment.
• ISTQB certification or equivalent.
• Experience using AI-assisted tools to improve testing, automation, and the software delivery process.
