About The Role

Balfour Beatty Power Transmission & Distribution is currently recruiting for a Senior Quantity Surveyor.

This is a site-focused role, offering a blend of site, office, and home-based working. The primary project location is the BTNO Project Office, Assington, Suffolk, and regular travel to site will be required to support project delivery, stakeholder engagement, and collaboration with the wider project team.

We are flexible on candidate location and welcome applications from individuals across the UK, provided they have the willingness and ability to travel to site as required.

What you'll be doing

As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will be responsible for managing all commercial and contractual aspects of projects, ensuring maximum value is achieved whilst maintaining the highest standards of quality and performance.

Key Responsibilities Include

  • Managing the commercial performance of major infrastructure projects from inception through to final account.
  • Preparing, reviewing and negotiating subcontract agreements and commercial terms.
  • Managing compensation events, variations, claims and contractual entitlements.
  • Producing accurate cost forecasts, CVRs, and financial reports.
  • Supporting procurement activities and supply chain management.
  • Monitoring subcontractor performance and valuations.
  • Identifying, managing and mitigating commercial risks and opportunities.
  • Providing commercial support to project delivery teams and senior stakeholders.
  • Analysing rates, prices and cost data to maximise project value.
  • Supporting the preparation and negotiation of claims where required.
  • Mentoring and developing Assistant and Quantity Surveyors within the commercial team.
  • Contributing to the continuous improvement of commercial processes and best practice.

Who we're looking for

We are keen to hear from commercially focused professionals with experience delivering infrastructure, utilities, power, energy, civil engineering or construction projects.

You'll Ideally Have

  • A degree in Quantity Surveying or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience operating as a Quantity Surveyor or Senior Quantity Surveyor on major projects.
  • Strong working knowledge of NEC contracts.
  • Experience managing subcontractors, procurement and commercial reporting.
  • Excellent commercial awareness and financial management skills.
  • Strong stakeholder management and negotiation abilities.
  • Experience mentoring and developing junior team members.
  • Membership of, or working towards, RICS, ICES or CIOB accreditation.
