Senior Quality Assurance Engineer

We are seeking a hands-on Web Test Automation QA Engineer to join an AWS Customer Experience Engineering team that builds and supports Amazon Connect solutions across multiple European client engagements. The QA Engineer will work alongside two Senior Amazon Connect Engineers and a dedicated Project Manager as part of a collaborative engineering team.

This is a test engineering role rather than a manual testing role. The successful candidate will take ownership of automated testing and help raise the overall quality of how the team designs, builds, tests, and releases solutions. The goal is to build and maintain a test suite the team can trust — stable, fast, meaningful, and focused on finding defects before they reach the client.

Requirements:

• 5+ years of relevant QA or test engineering experience.
• Strong hands-on Python skills, including writing clean, maintainable, and well-structured test automation code.
• Strong Selenium experience, including building and maintaining browser-based automated tests.
• Strong Playwright experience, including locators, fixtures, waits, and modern browser automation practices.
• Demonstrated ability to design and evolve test frameworks, Page Object Models, and reusable utilities, rather than only executing test cases.
• Experience accurately triaging test failures, distinguishing between product defects, environment issues, and flaky tests, and driving defects through to resolution.
• Excellent written and spoken English, with the ability to explain test coverage, defects, and quality risks to engineers and client stakeholders.
• Based in the UK or Europe, with the ability to work primarily UK and Central European client hours, including approximately four to five hours of overlap with the US team and flexibility for occasional early or late meetings.

Responsibilities:

• Design, write, and maintain automated web test suites in Python using Selenium and Playwright.
• Build and evolve reusable test frameworks, page objects, fixtures, and utilities that keep the suite fast, stable, and easy to extend.
• Translate requirements, user stories, and acceptance criteria into automated regression and end-to-end tests.
• Investigate and triage test failures, distinguishing between product defects, environment issues, and flaky tests, and manage defects through to resolution with engineers.
• Report quality status, test coverage, and risks clearly to the Project Manager, engineers, and client stakeholders.
• Work closely with the two Senior Amazon Connect Engineers to embed automated testing into feature delivery, code review, and release processes.
• Support release and cutover activities with regression validation, test evidence, and early or late coverage when critical.
• Continuously improve test stability, execution time, and the signal quality of the automated suite.

Working conditions:

• Engagement: Initial six-month contract with a strong likelihood of extension.
• Work model: Fully remote, client-facing delivery across multiple European projects.
• Working hours: Primarily UK and Central European client hours, with approximately 4–5 hours of daily overlap with the US-based team. Flexibility for occasional early or late meetings during critical periods.
• Language: Excellent written and spoken English. No additional language required.
• Equipment: Contractor provides a suitable laptop. Client access is generally provided through secure web-based services.
