New Zealand Building Training & Compliance Ltd (NZBTC) provides independent, quality-led building control services to Building Consent Authorities and territorial authorities throughout New Zealand.

Since 2016, we have supported councils with building consent processing, application vetting, on-site and remote inspections, competency assessments, technical audits, peer reviews, Code Compliance Certificates, Certificates of Acceptance, compliance schedules, training, supervision and technical leadership.

The opportunity

We are seeking experienced Senior Regulatory Officers with current commercial competence. This is a remote opportunity open to suitably qualified people across New Zealand, with permanent employment and contractor engagements available.

You will provide sound, defensible technical and regulatory services across the building consent lifecycle. Depending on your experience, assignments may include complex consent processing, application vetting, inspections, technical audits, peer reviews, compliance schedules, competency assessments and wider regulatory support.

What we’re looking for

• Current commercial competence in a New Zealand building control environment

• Strong working knowledge of the Building Act, Building Code and relevant regulatory requirements

• Sound technical judgement and the ability to make clear, defensible decisions

• Excellent written communication and accurate record-keeping

• The ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with councils, colleagues and industry partners

• A commitment to quality, consistency and professional integrity

Experience in one or more of the following would be particularly valuable:

• Undertaking technical audits

• Preparing compliance schedules

• Conducting competency assessments

• Commercial building consent processing or inspections

• Peer review, training, supervision or technical leadership
