Role Description The Senior Researcher – Japan is a full-time, hybrid role based in Tokyo, responsible for supporting executive search and leadership consulting assignments focused on the Japan market. This position involves conducting in-depth market and candidate research, mapping organizations and talent pools, and building and maintaining high-quality candidate longlists and shortlists. The Senior Researcher collaborates closely with consultants and project teams to understand client requirements, develop research strategies, and provide insights on industry trends, competitive landscapes, and talent availability. The role includes managing data in internal systems, preparing research reports and candidate profiles, and ensuring information is accurate, timely, and compliant with confidentiality and data protection standards. The Senior Researcher also engages in ongoing relationship-building with potential candidates and sources, helping strengthen DHR Global’s network within Japan-focused markets.

Qualifications

• Strong research, analytical, and information-gathering skills, with the ability to synthesize complex data into clear insights.
• Experience in executive search, talent research, market intelligence, or a related professional services environment.
• Proficiency in written and verbal communication, including the ability to prepare concise reports, candidate summaries, and market overviews.
• High level of proficiency with productivity and research tools (e.g., MS Office, databases, online research platforms, CRM or ATS systems).
• Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across multicultural, cross-functional teams.
• Fluency in English; Japanese language skills and familiarity with Japan’s business culture and market are highly beneficial.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Economics, Human Resources, International Relations, or a related field; advanced degrees are an advantage.
