Senior Reverse Engineer

We at Hack in Hire, are looking for a Senior Reverse Engineer to become part of our client's Research & Innovation team.

You will be responsible for analyzing architectures, carrying out hardware hacking tasks, and performing reverse engineering of firmware and communication protocols. You will also identify and exploit vulnerabilities, develop proofs of concept, and support cybersecurity research related to emerging technologies.

What will your main responsibilities be?

- Research and document the hardware architecture of IoT devices to understand how they work and identify potential weaknesses.

- Carry out practical hacking activities on hardware devices to identify vulnerabilities and assess the security of systems.

- Analyze and reverse engineer firmware and communication protocols to understand their internal operation and identify potential security flaws.

- Search for, identify, and exploit vulnerabilities, developing techniques and methods and documenting your findings.

- Develop low-level proofs of concept to demonstrate the exploitation of identified vulnerabilities.

- Support cybersecurity research focused on the use of emerging technologies, contributing to initiatives, analysis, and testing aimed at improving security.

- Participate in the development of internal tools.

Requirements

Education:

- University degree in Computer Engineering, Telecommunications Engineering, or a related field.

Minimum requirements:

- Between 3 and 5 years of experience in similar roles.

- Solid knowledge of digital electronics.

- Experience in software and hardware reverse engineering.

- Demonstrable experience with reverse engineering tools such as Ghidra (Radare, IDA).

- Experience developing embedded software and/or proofs of concept for known vulnerabilities.

- Experience in the identification and exploitation of software and hardware vulnerabilities.

- Experience in the analysis and manipulation of digital circuits and the use of hardware hacking tools.

- Experience programming in C/C++ and/or Python.

- Knowledge of Git for version control and collaboration on software development projects.

- Knowledge of Unix systems (GNU/Linux).

- English: level to read and understand technical documentation and write reports or emails confidently.

In addition, the following experience or knowledge will be considered a plus:

- Knowledge of software engineering, particularly SOLID principles.

- Knowledge of object-oriented development using .NET (C#).

- Understanding of communications technologies (SDR).

- Personal projects published on websites or repositories such as GitHub or GitLab.
