Overview

We are seeking an experienced Senior Risk Manager with a strong background in the UK water sector to join our infrastructure consultancy team. In this role, you will be embedded directly into a major regional water utility's capital delivery and operational framework, providing high-level risk management expertise across complex water and wastewater infrastructure projects.

You will act as a strategic advisor, driving robust quantitative and qualitative risk analysis, establishing risk frameworks, and championing a culture of proactive risk mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

• Risk Framework & Governance: Develop, embed, and maintain risk management strategies, policies, and frameworks aligned with industry standards and regulatory expectations (such as Ofwat requirements).
• Quantitative & Qualitative Analysis: Facilitate risk identification, assessment, and scoring across capital projects and operational programmes. Perform Quantitative Risk Analysis (QRA) for both cost and schedule (using Primavera Risk Analysis, @RISK, or similar tools).
• Stakeholder Facilitation: Lead regular risk review workshops with project managers, technical leads, and senior executive stakeholders to continuously identify, update, and manage project, programme, and enterprise risks.
• Risk Mitigation Strategy: Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering and delivery teams to define, monitor, and report on effective risk response plans and control measures.
• Contingency Management: Work closely with commercial and financial teams to establish and manage risk contingency drawdown, risk budgets, and change management procedures.
• Reporting & Insights: Produce clear, executive-level risk dashboards, heatmaps, and formal risk reporting to support decision-making, governance boards, and regulatory reporting cycles.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Industry Expertise: Proven experience (5+ years) delivering risk management within the UK water sector or closely aligned regulated utilities/infrastructure environments.
• Technical Proficiency: Deep understanding of qualitative and quantitative risk analysis methodologies (e.g., Monte Carlo simulation, cost and schedule risk modeling).
• Systems Experience: Hands-on experience with risk management software tools (e.g., ARM, Primavera Risk Analysis / Safran, @RISK).
• Qualifications: Degree in Engineering, Risk Management, Project Management, or a related field. Relevant professional certification (e.g., IRM, APM, or PMI-RMP) is highly desirable.
• Communication Skills: Outstanding facilitation, stakeholder management, and reporting skills, with the ability to convey complex risk concepts to non-specialists.
• Commute & Hybrid Requirement: Ability to spend 2 days per week on-site in Snodland, Kent, with the flexibility to work 3 days per week remotely.
