The Opportunity: The Senior Risk Prevention Analyst - Overnight Shift provides operational and technical risk assessments using fraud mitigation tools, advanced analytics, and AI to support fraud strategies, call queue management, monitoring, and performance improvement. Supports clients and internal teams on fraud detection, prevention inquiries, and solutions; resolves complex escalations and monitors workflow to meet service standards. Ensures timely fraud analysis for financial institutions, develops rules and custom client solutions, monitors assigned portfolios, identifies risk exposure, and recommends mitigation strategies. Interacts with senior leaders at financial institutions and Velera, coordinating with FDWC, service centers, internal teams, and third-party vendors. Provides overnight fraud monitoring, risk analytics, and client support coverage. Day in the Life: Develop fraud strategies using transaction data, machine learning, and analytics to reduce losses and maintain customer experience. Manage and optimize fraud strategies, balancing risk control with customer experience. Coordinate Risk Analytics tasks, projects, SLAs, turnaround times, and output quality. Resolve complex service escalations from calls and internal partners. Monitor client fraud trends and recommend procedure improvements to maintain efficiency. Serve as a fraud subject matter expert for incidents, investigations, and client presentations. Apply advanced analytics to solve business problems impacting current or future strategy. Maintain productive relationships with internal stakeholders and external vendors. Create BI reporting for senior leadership, boards, and examiners. Partner with assigned clients to support effective fraud mitigation through calls and emails. Use business, analytical, and technical expertise to shape cross-functional solution strategies. Present recommendations clearly to colleagues, peer reviewers, and mid-to-upper-level management. Use visualizations to clarify analytical findings for nontechnical audiences. Monitor department workflow to ensure time-sensitive work meets standards. Advise internal contacts on sensitive issues, client procedures, and product enhancements. Manage process documentation and communications with internal and external parties. Identify quality data sources to answer business questions and support testing or exploratory analysis. Integrate, transform, and cleanse data from multiple sources. Consult clients and staff on fraud prevention, write rules, build custom solutions, and monitor assigned client groups. Identify fraud-related risk exposure and determine needed mitigation measures. Monitor portfolio performance, identify trends, conduct root-cause analysis, and develop data-driven fraud defenses. Collaborate with internal teams as a client advocate for fraud and risk initiatives. Report identified risks to the appropriate team or management. Manage, monitor, and report work-area risks, including Information Security risks. Perform other duties as assigned. Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in Business, Statistics, Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Economics, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience required. Seven (7) years within the financial services industry required. Seven (7) years of professional experience in risk analytics, fraud mitigation, and/or fraud services required. Experience with Fraud Detection Work Center (FDWC) and/or FDR systems required. Experience with fraud orchestration and decisioning tools (e.g., DefenseEdge, Falcon, Advance Defense, Fraud Navigator) preferred. Deep experience working with fraud detection strategies, rules tuning, and fraud modeling. Payments processing system knowledge preferred. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. Deep experience working with fraud detection strategies, rules tuning, and fraud modeling. Strong proficiency with SQL; ability to analyze large, complex datasets and derive actionable insights. Strong understanding of fraud metrics, forecasting methods, and false positive/true fraud tradeoffs. Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to synthesize complex data into actionable insights. Strong communication skills with the ability to communicate technical subject matter clearly and succinctly to team members and financial institutions. Project management experience preferred. Ability to work independently and make sound risk decisions during overnight hours while effectively managing escalations and time-sensitive fraud events.
