Senior Rust Backend Engineer

We are looking for a highly experienced Senior Rust Backend Engineer to design, build, and operate the core backend services of a fintech platform working at the intersection of credit, payments, and blockchain.

The ideal candidate is highly autonomous, technically strong, comfortable in a startup environment, and able to take full ownership of backend systems from design through production.

The salary range is $4,500 to $6,000 USD per month, depending on experience and seniority.

Candidates based in Colombia and other Latin American countries may be considered.

The role is 100% remote.

Responsibilities:

• Build and maintain backend services in Rust supporting lending and repayment flows.
• Integrate backend systems with Ethereum and other EVM-compatible blockchains.
• Work with on-chain events, transaction lifecycles, signing, confirmations, and smart contract integrations.
• Design reliable ledger-style and financial data systems with strong auditability and transactional correctness.
• Build and maintain secure APIs, authentication, permissions, and financial workflows.
• Own services end-to-end, including design, deployment, monitoring, and production operations.
• Collaborate closely with a small, high-ownership engineering team.

Requirements:

• Fluent in English, YOU MUST BE ABLE TO HAVE A FLUENT PROFESSIONAL CONVERSATION
• IN ENGLISH
• 5+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• 2–3+ years of production experience with Rust.
• Strong experience with async Rust, concurrency, and failure handling.
• Hands-on experience integrating backend systems with Ethereum or other EVM blockchains.
• Strong experience with PostgreSQL, including schema design, migrations, and transactions.
• Experience building financial, payments, lending, ledger, or other high-precision systems.
• Strong understanding of idempotency, auditability, testing, and production reliability.
• Experience working in startups or early-stage environments.
• Highly autonomous and hands-on, with strong ownership of production systems.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Practical use of AI tools as part of engineering or productivity workflows.
• Strong AI-aware / AI-first mindset and willingness to use AI to improve development speed and quality.
• Comfortable working remotely in a fast-moving environment with evolving requirements.
