The Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior SAP Basis Specialist to lead SAP technical administration, system operations, performance management, security coordination, transport management, upgrades, migrations, monitoring, and technical lifecycle activities.

The ideal candidate will provide deep SAP Basis expertise across complex enterprise environments, ensuring SAP systems remain secure, available, performant, scalable, and properly maintained. The role will support SAP S/4HANA transformation, cloud and hybrid environments, system upgrades, high availability, disaster recovery, and continuous technical improvement.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and administer SAP landscapes across development, quality assurance, testing, pre-production, and production environments.
• Maintain the availability, stability, performance, and reliability of SAP systems.
• Perform day-to-day SAP Basis administration and technical operations.
• Monitor SAP systems, application servers, databases, interfaces, background jobs, and system resources.
• Identify and resolve SAP technical incidents before they materially affect business operations.
• Troubleshoot system performance, availability, connectivity, configuration, and infrastructure-related issues.
• Perform SAP system health checks and proactively identify technical risks.
• Manage SAP application servers, instances, profiles, services, and system parameters.
• Configure and maintain SAP system profiles and instance parameters.
• Manage SAP users, roles, technical accounts, and system-level access in coordination with SAP Security teams.
• Support SAP authorization-related technical activities and investigate access or authentication issues.
• Monitor system logs, work processes, dumps, locks, update failures, and other technical indicators.
• Analyze ABAP dumps, system logs, trace files, and technical alerts to identify root causes.
• Manage SAP background jobs, scheduling, monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimization.
• Monitor batch-processing performance and resolve recurring job failures.
• Manage SAP transport requests and ensure controlled movement of development objects across system landscapes.
• Maintain transport routes, transport layers, and technical transport configurations.
• Coordinate production transports in accordance with change-management and release procedures.
• Investigate failed or inconsistent transports and implement corrective actions.
• Manage SAP kernel upgrades, patches, support packages, and technical component updates.
• Plan and execute SAP system upgrades, enhancement packages, and technical maintenance activities.
• Support SAP S/4HANA migrations, conversions, upgrades, and transformation programs.
• Conduct technical readiness assessments for SAP system migrations and upgrades.
• Coordinate SAP technical activities with functional teams, developers, infrastructure teams, and project stakeholders.
• Support SAP installations, system copies, refreshes, client copies, and environment provisioning.
• Perform SAP system refreshes and post-refresh technical configuration.
• Manage SAP client administration and technical client-related activities.
• Configure and maintain SAP RFC connections, destinations, gateways, and technical interfaces.
• Troubleshoot RFC, HTTP, HTTPS, OData, IDoc, and other SAP connectivity issues.
• Coordinate SAP integration requirements with middleware, cloud platforms, APIs, and external systems.
• Monitor and maintain SAP interface connectivity and technical reliability.
• Manage SAP spool systems, printers, output devices, and related technical services.
• Monitor and optimize SAP database performance in collaboration with database administrators.
• Support SAP HANA administration, monitoring, backup, recovery, and performance activities where applicable.
• Monitor HANA memory consumption, CPU utilization, storage, services, alerts, and database performance.
• Coordinate SAP HANA upgrades, revisions, patches, and lifecycle activities.
• Support SAP databases including HANA and other supported database technologies where applicable.
• Coordinate database backup, restore, recovery, and technical continuity activities.
• Monitor SAP system capacity and develop capacity plans based on business growth and usage trends.
• Analyze CPU, memory, storage, network, database, and application-layer utilization.
• Identify system bottlenecks and implement appropriate performance improvements.
• Establish and maintain SAP monitoring dashboards, alerts, thresholds, and operational controls.
• Support high-availability SAP architectures and clustered environments.
• Coordinate with infrastructure and cloud teams on load balancing, networking, storage, compute, and virtualization requirements.
• Support SAP environments hosted on public, private, or hybrid cloud platforms.
• Manage SAP technical components in cloud environments and ensure appropriate integration with enterprise infrastructure.
• Participate in SAP cloud migration and infrastructure-transformation initiatives.
• Maintain SAP system documentation, architecture diagrams, configuration records, and operational procedures.
• Develop and maintain technical runbooks, recovery procedures, troubleshooting guides, and operational standards.
• Establish and maintain SAP technical standards, administration procedures, and governance controls.
• Support disaster-recovery planning, testing, and execution for critical SAP systems.
• Participate in business-continuity exercises and validate SAP recovery procedures.
• Monitor backup completion, recovery-point objectives, recovery-time objectives, and restoration readiness.
• Coordinate SAP technical incident response during major outages and business-critical events.
• Perform root-cause analysis for recurring system failures and major technical incidents.
• Develop corrective and preventive actions following major SAP incidents.
• Work with cybersecurity teams to address SAP vulnerabilities, patches, hardening requirements, and security risks.
• Support SAP security assessments, technical hardening, vulnerability remediation, and compliance activities.
• Monitor SAP technical interfaces and identify unauthorized or anomalous system activity where applicable.
• Ensure SAP systems comply with internal security, change-management, operational, and regulatory requirements.

Ideal Candidate

The successful candidate should have strong experience in SAP Basis administration, SAP technical operations, SAP S/4HANA, SAP infrastructure, SAP HANA, system upgrades, migrations, and enterprise SAP support, preferably within a complex multinational or business-critical SAP environment.
