For our Budapest office, we’re looking for a Senior Backend Developer who enjoys solving complex problems, building scalable software, and helping shape how modern software engineering is practiced. This is a hands-on engineering role with opportunities to influence technical direction, mentor other developers, work directly with clients, and help drive Frankly’s adoption of modern AI-enabled engineering practices. The Value You Will Add · Design and build reliable, maintainable, and scalable software solutions that solve meaningful business problems. · Lead technical direction throughout the project lifecycle—from discovery and solution design to delivery and continuous improvement. · Become a trusted technical advisor by understanding client businesses, technical ecosystems, and long-term objectives. · Help clients make sound technology decisions that balance quality, speed, maintainability, and commercial value. · Drive adoption of AI-enabled engineering practices, automation, and modern development workflows. · Mentor developers, raise engineering standards, and contribute to a culture of continuous learning. · Improve our engineering practices, technical standards, and development processes through practical innovation and thoughtful leadership. You Must Have · Several years of professional software development experience. · Experience designing and delivering production-quality software. · Strong understanding of software architecture, APIs, databases, and modern development practices. · Experience working with distributed systems, integrations, and cloud-based solutions. · Strong understanding of software quality, testing, security, and maintainability. · Experience participating in technical planning, estimation, and solution design. · Excellent communication skills in English. It’s Nice If You Have · Experience with AI integrations, LLMs, agentic systems, or automation. · Experience with cloud platforms (Azure preferred). · Experience across multiple programming languages and technology stacks. · Experience mentoring developers or leading technical initiatives. · Experience working directly with enterprise clients. · Experience contributing to technical standards, architecture, or engineering practices.
