Senior Software Developer
Impactum InsightsWho We Are
Impactum Insights is a proudly independent Romanian company with over a decade of experience in developing software solutions that capture public opinion and deliver insights. Our platforms combine cutting-edge technology with deep research expertise to simplify and streamline the way organizations understand their audiences.
We’ve led large-scale projects across more than 20 countries on five continents. Today, our focus is on building AI-powered tools for both quantitative and qualitative research—empowering teams to extract deeper insights, faster and with less friction. Whether refining existing products or launching new ones, we’re committed to making research accessible, scalable, and impactful.
Excited to grow? We’re looking for a passionate Senior Software Developer to become part of our Bucharest-based team.
As Senior Software Developer, you will be working as part of our team of programmers to help build various software products, web applications, develop and maintain APIs. You will need to have an affinity with code, always keeping up to date with the latest cutting-edge technologies in order to produce quality software.
We work with Agile methodologies; we deliver in one-month sprints; each sprint starts with planning, where decisions on architecture and design are being made, followed by implementation, testing, live release and retrospective. There is no team lead, all developers write code, and everyone gets to be scrum master for one month, by rotation. The activity is transparent, you can take part in the decision-making process in terms of product concept & design, technical solutions etc. Our developers often work on both server and UI, while we encourage flexibility in choosing the preferred developments and growth path.
We are looking for an open and proactive professional who can bring a diverse skillset, positive attitude, and a healthy sense of humor to a small, fast-moving team. This is a senior role with real ownership from day one and a clear path to growing into broader technical leadership as the company scales — you'll help shape not just what we build, but how the team builds it.
As a Senior Software Developer, you will be working in an enthusiastic technical team. Your job will consist of:
- Participating in the design and creation of scalable software
- Writing clean, functional code on the front- and back-end
- Write effective APIs
- Testing and fixing bugs or other coding issues, to ensure responsiveness and efficiency
- Troubleshoot, debug and upgrade software
- Create security and data protection settings
- Build features and applications with a mobile responsive design
- Deploying our software applications when onboarding new clients
- Providing support for documentation and/or direct client trainings
- Write technical documentation when needed
- Work with data scientists and analysts to improve software
We are offering a fantastic opportunity to join a friendly, supportive and forward thinking
Team.
We are looking for an open and proactive professional, able to bring into the team a diverse skillset, positive attitude and a healthy sense of humor.
- BA or MS in Computer Science or similar
- At least 3 years of full front- and back-end development experience, including:
- HTML5 and JavaScript (React, Angular, or similar)
- Java & RESTful APIs
- SQL/MySQL — comfortable designing schemas and writing non-trivial queries, not just basic CRUD
- CSS3 with LESS and/or SASS
- Git
- Clear, well-documented, reusable code
- Comfortable operating in a Linux server environment, not just developing on it — at home on the command line, able to SSH into remote machines and connect to services running in the cloud, and able to reason about how a deployed system fits together
- A working understanding of how web applications are served and secured in production, including HTTP/HTTPS, SSL/TLS, and what a reverse proxy and load balancer do, and why.
- Comfortable building with AI coding tools and agents as part of your everyday workflow — and happy to share what's working, set up patterns for the team, and help colleagues level up rather than keeping it to yourself
Desired, but not mandatory:
- Hands-on experience with Google Cloud Platform (Compute Engine, Cloud SQL, load balancers)
Other relevant knowledge and experience:
- Confidence, creativity, and drive
- A strong communicator and reliable team player who's comfortable making technical decisions and explaining the reasoning behind them
- Can work autonomously when needed, and can take the lead on scoping and prioritizing work
- Can articulate ideas to colleagues and clients effectively, actively mentor others, and incorporate the ideas of the team
- Can provide a good level of support to non-technical colleagues
- Interested in shaping engineering practices, tooling, and how the team works as it grows
- Full professional proficiency in English and Romanian
