Position Overview
Our client, Justice Technology Services (JTS) within the Ontario Ministry of Solicitor General, is seeking an experienced Senior Software Developer to support and maintain existing web applications while developing new web-based initiatives.
The successful candidate will have extensive hands-on experience with GeoTalent, including the GeoTalent development environment, TP Macro Language, and TP environment, combined with strong .NET, C#, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, Entity Framework, SQL Server, and Azure DevOps experience.
This is a highly specialized role requiring a senior-level developer with significant experience building both front-end web features and back-end administrative console functionality within GeoTalent, as well as enterprise-level .NET applications.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate technical systems specifications into working, tested applications.
- Develop detailed programming specifications.
- Design, develop, modify, compile, test, debug, document, and maintain applications.
- Build front-end web functionality and back-end administrative console features using the GeoTalent development environment.
- Develop and maintain applications using TP Macro Language and the TP environment.
- Support and maintain existing web applications and develop new web-based initiatives.
- Design, develop, test, troubleshoot, implement, and support enterprise-level .NET applications.
- Develop solutions using ASP.NET Core .NET 6 and above, C#, Blazor Server, Razor syntax, LINQ, and Entity Framework.
- Design and implement database solutions using Microsoft SQL Server.
- Write and optimize SQL queries, stored procedures, views, scripts, and data models.
- Perform technical analysis of application design, architecture, integration, and implementation.
- Troubleshoot technical problems arising during software implementation, operation, conversion, and migration.
- Participate throughout the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC).
- Collaborate with IT professionals, project teams, business stakeholders, and subject matter experts.
- Conduct design walkthroughs and contribute to technical solution reviews.
- Provide post-implementation technical support and resolve application issues.
- Prepare and maintain technical, user, and system documentation.
- Participate in knowledge-transfer activities with the Project Manager and project team.
- Follow structured methodologies for application development, design, implementation, maintenance, and support.
- Ensure solutions comply with applicable accessibility requirements, including AODA.
- Support quality assurance activities from a technical perspective.
- Meet project deadlines while maintaining high-quality development standards.
Requirements
Mandatory Qualifications & Must-Have Skills
Candidates must meet the following requirements:
1. GeoTalent – Critical Requirement
- 10+ years of experience working with GeoTalent.
- 10+ years of experience working within the GeoTalent development environment.
- Hands-on experience with the TP Macro Language.
- Hands-on experience with the TP environment.
- Experience using GeoTalent to build:
- Front-end web features.
- Back-end administrative console features.
- 10+ years of experience designing and implementing solutions using the GeoTalent development environment.
- Demonstrated experience with technical analysis of solution design and architecture using GeoTalent.
- Demonstrated experience designing, building, and delivering Learning Management System (LMS) modules using the TP Macro Language and TP environment.
GeoTalent experience is a critical mandatory requirement. Candidates without substantial hands-on GeoTalent / TP Macro Language / TP environment experience should not be submitted.
2. .NET Development
- 8+ years of .NET experience minimum.
- 10+ years of .NET experience is required for the enterprise-level criteria.
- Experience with ASP.NET Core .NET 6 and above.
- Experience with Microsoft .NET Entity Framework.
- Strong experience with C#.
- Strong experience with LINQ.
- Experience with Razor syntax.
- Experience with Blazor Server.
- Experience developing enterprise-level .NET applications.
- Experience with ASP.NET programming, .NET Framework, C# .NET, and Blazor.
- Experience designing and implementing loosely coupled components and n-tier architecture.
3. Database / SQL
- Strong experience with databases and database concepts.
- Experience with data modelling.
- Strong SQL programming skills.
- Ability to write:
- Complex SQL queries.
- Stored procedures.
- Views.
- Database scripts.
- Experience with Microsoft SQL Server 2019 and above.
- Experience managing databases using SQL Server Management Studio (SSMS).
- Experience developing database scripts, including backup scripts.
- Experience with report testing and data accuracy/verification.
- Experience using SQL for information retrieval.
- Understanding of database concepts and principles.
4. Senior-Level Experience
- 10+ years of experience in programming and analysis.
