Senior Software Engineer

Nexl is looking for a Senior Software Engineer to help build our AI-driven CRM and growth intelligence platform. You'll be technically rigorous and highly autonomous, with a high bar for what you ship and a strong point of view on how to build it. You'll work within a cross-functional squad, partnering closely with your Tech Lead, Product Manager, and shared Designer. AI tools such as Claude Code and Cursor are core to how the team builds, and you're expected to use them to ship faster and at higher quality. Deep fundamentals still matter just as much: architecture, debugging, security, system thinking because those are what let you direct AI effectively and catch where it gets things wrong. This is a high-ownership role for someone who thrives working autonomously and wants to help shape how a fast-growing LegalTech company builds. You'll be equally comfortable discussing architecture trade-offs, code quality, and the impact your work has on the product and the customer. Design and ship features end-to-end across React/TypeScript and Ruby on Rails or Python — from problem definition through architecture, implementation, testing, and release. You own the outcome, not just the ticket. Use Claude Code, Cursor, and similar agentic tools as a genuine development partner — structuring problems for AI execution, validating output, and building the shared AI workflows that make the whole squad faster, not just your own. Own system design, data modelling, security, and technical debt — the trade-off calls that shape long-term platform health. Set and hold a high bar for code quality, including AI-generated code — reviewing for correctness, security, performance, and long-term maintainability, not just whether it runs. Own the reliability and scalability of what you ship — better observability, cleaner architecture, fewer production incidents over time. Work closely with your Tech Lead, Product Manager, and Design across every initiative — bringing technical depth and a clear point of view on what to build and how. Help the engineers around you raise their AI game — share what works (tools, prompting approaches, workflows) and make the whole team faster, not just yourself. Must haves: Deep expertise in full-stack software architecture, system design, data modelling, debugging, and security — these fundamentals are non-negotiable. Strong proficiency in React + TypeScript and strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails or Python. You use Claude Code, Cursor, or equivalent agentic tools as your primary development workflow, and can point to meaningfully higher output velocity as a result. Ability to critically assess AI-generated code for correctness, security, performance, and long-term maintainability. You know when to push back, refactor, or start over — and you do. Solid understanding of database design and optimisation (PostgreSQL, MongoDB) including indexing, query optimisation, and data modelling. Ability to take ownership, operate with minimal direction, and drive outcomes end-to-end, with a bias toward impact over activity. Nice to haves: Experience with GraphQL, gRPC, or real-time communication protocols (WebSockets). Experience in multi-tenant, data-heavy SaaS applications. Familiarity with Marketing Tech, CRM-like systems, or workflow automation products. Knowledge of DevOps practices, Infrastructure as Code, or cloud infrastructure (AWS or Azure). Experience in LegalTech or Professional Services tech. Experience designing or orchestrating multi-agent systems — decomposing work across autonomous agents and managing inter-agent communication. AI agents and workflows you build are adopted by the squad, multiplying the team’s collective output. Architectural and trade-off decisions are yours and they’re sound: AI handles implementation; you own the judgment. AI-generated code in the codebase passes the same bar as hand-written code for correctness, security, and long-term maintainability. You help define what AI-first engineering looks like at Nexl, and other engineers want to learn from your workflow. Work from anywhere.
