Senior Software Engineer, Autonomous Systems (C2/Backend/Service)

About the Role

Join a customer-facing product engineering team building command-and-control and autonomy software for robotic and autonomous systems. You will help deliver cloud and edge capabilities that integrate sensors, platforms, and AI to support demanding operational missions.

What You'll Do

• Design, build, and optimize backend services and middleware that connect autonomous systems and external services.

• Develop real-time data processing for heterogeneous sensors, including state estimation and threat detection.

• Build AI and LLM-driven systems for threat assessment and rapid decision-making.

• Integrate sensors, effectors, and autonomous platforms, and deliver dependable cloud and edge software.

• Design scalable, fault-tolerant, and fail-safe systems for high-stakes environments.

• Collaborate with robotics, hardware, and systems teams, and engage with customers and stakeholders.

What We're Looking For

• At least 4 years of professional software development experience in autonomous systems, robotics, or real-time systems.

• A degree in computer science, robotics, electrical engineering, or a related field.

• Proficiency in Rust and Python, with production experience in C++ and Java.

• Experience owning backend or service-layer software, such as middleware, APIs, or microservices, and working with real-time data and messaging across external systems.

• Experience integrating heterogeneous sensors and developing AI or LLM systems for autonomous decision-making.

• Ability to work in the United States as a citizen and meet clearance eligibility requirements.

• Comfort working in customer-facing, cross-functional teams and traveling to client sites.

Compensation & Benefits

Annual salary range: $145,000 to $275,000 USD. Visa sponsorship is not available.

Location

Hybrid work arrangement based in California, United States, with travel to client sites as needed.
