Senior Software Engineer (Backend)

• Location: Remote
• Department: Dispensary of Hope Information Systems
• Schedule: Monday-Friday | Full-time| 8:00am-5:00pm central time

• 5+ years building production backend systems, 2+ years on AWS serverless (Lambda, API Gateway, EventBridge or equivalent). Strong Node.js/TypeScript backend proficiency
• Experience with authentication/identity systems (Cognito, Auth0, OIDC/SAML), including MFA for customer-facing apps
• Experience integrating with third-party REST APIs and building secure hand-offs to external services (signed tokens, no PII in query strings)
• Strong data modeling experience (PostgreSQL, DynamoDB, or similar), including migrations and tested backup/restore
• Infrastructure-as-code experience (CDK, Terraform, or SAM), practical observability experience — structured logging, alerting, on-call ownership
• Security-first mindset — secrets management, least-privilege IAM, input validation at every boundary

Education:

• High School diploma equivalency with 2 years of cumulative experience OR Associate's
  degree/Bachelor's degree OR 4 years of applicable cumulative job specific experience required.

Preferred Experience:

• Experience integrating with a third-party billing/payments SaaS (redirect-based or lightweight status API)
• Enough React/TypeScript familiarity to unblock or pair with the frontend engineer
• Experience with EventBridge Scheduler, Step Functions, or similar orchestration
• Prior experience on a 2–3 person team owning production systems post-launch
• Experience integrating with accounting/ERP systems (QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar)
