We're looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the FortiSOC (SIEM) Cloud Platform team in Santa Clara, CA. The team builds and runs the cloud infrastructure behind FortiSOC Cloud. When a customer activates a subscription, our platform provisions, upgrades, monitors and backs up their deployment for them.

You'll work across infrastructure-as-code, backend automation services, observability and production operations. You'll own real parts of the platform from design through production, working with senior and staff engineers who can help you grow.

This role suits an engineer who likes hands-on work across the whole stack, from a Terraform module to a Python service to a production incident, and who wants to grow their depth in cloud platform engineering.

Responsibilities

- Build and maintain the cloud infrastructure that provisions and manages customer environments.

- Develop and improve automation for deployment, provisioning, upgrades, scaling, backup and disaster recovery.

- Build and enhance Python platform services that orchestrate cloud resources and manage the customer stack lifecycle.

- Write and review infrastructure-as-code using Terraform/OpenTofu, and help keep modules consistent across environments.

- Improve monitoring, alerting and operational tooling so problems are caught before customers notice them.

- Contribute to CI/CD pipelines, deployment automation and rollback mechanisms.

- Troubleshoot production issues across cloud infrastructure, backend services, databases and networking, and turn what you learn into lasting fixes and runbooks.

- Work with product, QA, SRE and security teams to deliver secure, reliable features.

- Take part in production support and the on-call rotation.

Qualifications

Required

- 4+ years of software engineering experience, including 2+ years working on cloud infrastructure, platform or DevOps/SRE-style systems.

- Strong Python programming skills.

- Hands-on experience with infrastructure-as-code using Terraform, OpenTofu or similar tools.

- Experience with containers and Kubernetes.

- Experience running production services, including debugging live issues and participating in on-call.

- Solid Linux, networking fundamentals and troubleshooting skills.

- Experience with CI/CD pipelines and deployment automation.

- Must be able to work onsite in Santa Clara, CA, four days per week, and collaborate effectively with local and global engineering teams.

Preferred

- Experience with one or more cloud platforms such as AWS, OpenStack, Azure or Google Cloud.

- Experience with ClickHouse or other distributed databases.

- Experience with observability tools (for example Prometheus/VictoriaMetrics, Grafana, CloudWatch) and alerting.

- Exposure to high availability, backup/restore or disaster recovery work.

- Experience working on SaaS platforms or large-scale production services.

- Interest or background in cybersecurity, SIEM or cloud security products.

What We're Looking For

The ideal candidate is a strong hands-on engineer who enjoys building and running reliable systems. They're comfortable moving between infrastructure, automation code and production operations, take ownership of what they ship, and are eager to automate away manual work.

Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without sponsorship.

The US base salary range for this full-time position is $140,000-$160,000. Fortinet offers employees a variety of benefits, including medical, dental, vision, life and disability insurance, 401(k), 11 paid holidays, vacation time, and sick time, as well as a comprehensive leave program.
