The teams work to maximize the investment in resources and technology while building an appropriate balance between high-touch client service and our fiduciary responsibility to protect CIBC, our clients, and our shareholders from undue risk.
What you'll be doing
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will leverage your expertise in React, .Net, SQL, and JavaScript to lead the development, enhancement, and maintenance of critical software solutions. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams to design robust applications, drive technical innovation, and ensure high-quality delivery that supports strategic business objectives and elevates client experiences. This role is part of CIBC India, our newly established office that supports our U.S. and Canadian businesses through global collaboration, technology expertise and operational excellence.
CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 1-3 days per week on-site, while other days may be remote.
How you'll succeed
- Delivery – Deliver projects with moderate oversight, owning outcomes, scope, and task delegation. Translate goals into clear technical tasks, make decisions within defined parameters, and ensure delivery aligns with departmental objectives and timelines.
- Technical Excellence – Design and ship secure, scalable solutions across the stack. Drive automation, comprehensive testing, CI/CD, and observability, while reducing technical debt and improving performance and reliability. Leverage GitHub CoPilot in Software Development best practices.
- Industry and Domain Impact – Apply banking product and regulatory knowledge to shape solutions and initiatives. Leverage current industry trends to drive measurable process and product improvements, making data-driven trade-offs and recommendations.
- Risk and Compliance – Participate in project-level risk assessments, define and execute mitigation plans, and embed security/privacy-by-design. Ensure adherence to policies and regulatory requirements, stay current on regulatory changes, and partner with Compliance and Audit for effective oversight.
- Stakeholder and Team Management – Work across product, design, operations, and partner teams. Communicate status, risks, and decisions clearly; influence cross-functional outcomes; participate in code reviews and knowledge sharing to raise team standards. Build strong relationships with team members, peers, and U.S. based partners.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate experience in C# and modern .NET, preferably .NET 6/7/8, for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable, secure applications, including legacy .NET Framework where applicable. You possess strong front-end development experience with React, JavaScript, TypeScript, jQuery, HTML5, CSS3, and responsive design, along with SQL Server or similar RDBMS experience, including schema design, stored procedures, indexing, query tuning, and performance optimization. You design and develop RESTful APIs, backend services, and system integrations, with experience in SSIS packages, ETL/data integration workflows, and secure cloud-native solutions. You also have proven ability to develop prototypes/POCs and translate them into solutions, experience with GitHub and CI/CD pipelines, and the ability to produce and maintain technical design documentation and architecture artifacts. In addition, you bring experience with integration patterns, asynchronous processing, and service-to-service communication, can evaluate design trade-offs across performance, resilience, supportability, and time-to-market, and work effectively in Agile delivery environments across the software development lifecycle.
- AI Fluency. 1-2 years of experience with AI tools to accelerate development, unit testing, document generation, POCs and aligning with best practices.
- You have a degree. Degree/diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, MIS, or related field or relevant certifications and/or completion of a relevant bootcamp.
- You are a certified professional. Microsoft/Azure certifications are an asset. AZ-900 is required.
- You can translate business requirements into robust technical solutions across UI, application, and data layers, ensure outcomes adhere to regulatory requirements in partnership with Compliance and Audit teams, and demonstrate knowledge of banking products, services, and industry regulations.
