Senior Software Engineer – Node.js Enhancement Lead

Description

Concept Solutions is seeking a Senior Software Engineer – Node.js Enhancement Lead to lead software engineering enhancements supporting mission-critical applications for a Department of War (DoW) customer. This position offers an opportunity to combine hands-on Node.js development with technical leadership, mentoring engineers, and delivering new capabilities across modern enterprise applications.

• Lead a small engineering team delivering new capabilities to production Node.js and React/TypeScript applications, from design through release.
• Own technical design, code review standards, and release readiness for the team's backlog, partnering with Government product owners to shape and prioritize work.
• Deliver enhancements safely into live, mission-critical systems using automated testing, feature flags, and rehearsed rollback plans.
• Mentor engineers, establish high standards for code quality, and promote engineering best practices.
• Collaborate with sustainment, security, and platform teams to support reliable application delivery.

Requirements

• 7+ years of backend software engineering experience, including 4+ years building production services using Node.js (JavaScript and TypeScript).
• Strong SQL experience, particularly PostgreSQL, and REST API design.
• Demonstrated experience leading a small engineering team through technical design, code reviews, and software releases in an Agile environment.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience developing applications using React and TypeScript.
• Experience with form-heavy or data-collection applications.
• Experience with containerized deployments using Amazon ECS or Kubernetes.
• Familiarity with AWS GovCloud.
• Experience delivering software in federal or other regulated environments with formal change control processes.
• Active Secret security clearance.

Work Location and Schedule

• Location: Remote
• Schedule: Full-time, 40 hours per week, Monday through Friday, with core hours of 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern. The team operates in two-week sprints, including a customer demonstration each sprint.
• Travel: 0–10%, within the Washington, DC metropolitan area.
• Security Requirement: U.S. citizenship required. Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a DoW security clearance. An active Secret clearance or higher is strongly preferred and may allow an earlier start.
• Compensation: $170,000–$180,000 base salary, depending on experience.
