Aircall is a unicorn, AI-powered customer communications platform used by 22,000+ companies worldwide to drive revenue, resolve issues faster, and scale customer-facing teams. We’re redefining customer communications by bringing voice, SMS, WhatsApp, and AI together into one seamless workspace.
Our momentum comes from a simple idea: help teams work smarter, not harder. Aircall’s AI Voice Agent automates routine calls, AI Assist streamlines post-call work, and AI Assist Pro delivers real-time guidance so people can do their best work. The result is higher revenue, faster resolutions, and teams that scale with confidence.
Aircall is headquartered in Paris, our European HQ, with a strong North American presence anchored in Seattle, our North American HQ, and teams across Madrid, London, Berlin, San Francisco, New York City, Sydney, and Mexico City. We’ve built a product customers love and a business that’s scaling quickly, backed by world-class investors and driven by rapid AI innovation across multiple product lines.
At Aircall, you’ll join a company in motion. We’re ambitious, product-driven, and execution-focused, with visible impact, fast decisions, and real growth.
How we work at Aircall: We’re customer-obsessed, data-driven, and focused on delivering meaningful outcomes. We value ownership, continuous learning, and thoughtful speed. If you thrive in a collaborative, fast-moving environment where trust and impact matter, you’ll feel at home here.
Outbound Capabilities gives Aircall customers a first-class outbound calling experience. Users build campaigns from contact lists, the system dials automatically for agents (human or AI Voice Agent), and outcomes flow back to CRMs and analytics. The product is live with hundreds of companies and growing fast. In this role you own how it's built and how it runs.
- Set the technical direction of the team: architecture, standards, and the trade-offs between speed and quality
- Lead design and delivery of the team's biggest initiatives, from proposal to production, and break them into work the team can ship in small steps
- Stay hands-on: write and review production code across the backend and the React frontend
- Make AI a core part of how the team builds: use AI coding assistants and agents every day, shape workflows that keep quality high, and help others adopt them well
- Bring AI into the product where it helps customers, working with the AI Voice Agents team on campaigns run by AI agents
- Raise the bar for the team through code review, design reviews, pairing and coaching
- Mentor engineers and grow technical leadership across the team, so good decisions don't depend on one person
- Own operational excellence: observability, alerting that people trust, runbooks, incident response and root-cause analysis
- Partner with the Product Manager and Designer to turn product goals into technical plans, and push back when a technical choice would hurt customers
- Coordinate with the teams we depend on: Calls & Routing, Number Management, AI Voice Agents, Integrations and Data Platform
You should have proven experience with
- TypeScript and Node.js, production-grade
- React, owning components end-to-end, not just familiarity
- AWS and cloud architectures (we run on EKS)
- GraphQL APIs (AppSync) and event-driven patterns (SQS/SNS workers)
- PostgreSQL
- Observability with Datadog or similar: designing metrics, monitors and dashboards, not just reading them
- Leading the technical work of a team or a multi-quarter initiative: architecture decisions, design reviews, delivery and quality
- Mentoring engineers and raising the standard of a team's code, design and operations
- Using AI coding assistants or agents (e.g. Claude Code, Cursor, Copilot) daily to design, build, test and debug, with a clear way of checking what they produce
It would be great if you also have
- Telephony or dialer experience (SIP, call routing), or CRM integrations (HubSpot, Salesforce)
- Twilio calling: Programmable Voice, TwiML, call status webhooks or conferences
- Building AI or LLM features in production: prompt and tool design, evaluations, and monitoring quality and cost
About you
- 8+ years of professional software engineering, including time leading the technical work of a team
- Genuinely full-stack: you can own a backend service and its React frontend end-to-end
- AI-native: AI is part of how you design, code, test and debug every day. You know where it helps and where it fails, how you check its output, and you help others adopt it well
- You lead by influence: engineers follow your technical direction because it's clear and well reasoned
- Product-oriented: you think about customer impact, not just technical elegance
- Ownership mindset: you drive work forward and are comfortable with ambiguity and changing priorities
- Personable and collaborative, with clear communication to engineers and non-engineers
- Growth mindset: you develop yourself and the people around you, and you give and receive feedback well
- Comfortable in a remote/hybrid organisation and happy to get together from time to time
