Company Description

Bellwood is a dynamic Product Development Consultancy. We're a team of developers, designers, marketers and entrepreneurs that companies turn to when they want to take a software product from conception to creation.

About the job

We are seeking a Senior Software Engineer with deep React and front-end engineering experience to join our team. The ideal candidate will have experience that closely aligns with our current tech stack, particularly React, Redux, TypeScript, Vitest, Playwright, and GitHub Actions.

This is a unique opportunity to work alongside an experienced team that excels at building quality client products at scale. You'll own features end-to-end, raise the bar on engineering practices like testing, CI/CD, code review, and secure delivery, and help client teams build patterns that keep their products maintainable as they grow. This position reports to an Engineering Team Lead.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Owning feature development end-to-end in React applications, from application design through implementation and release
  • Establishing and improving automated quality gates, including unit, integration, and end-to-end testing
  • Leading code reviews to raise code quality, consistency, and maintainability across client codebases
  • Authoring and maintaining GitHub Actions CI/CD pipelines for build, test, lint, and security checks
  • Administering GitHub repositories, including dependency management, permissions, branch protection, and overall repo hygiene
  • Partnering with client teams to harden security and quality posture through dependency updates, vulnerability remediation, and static analysis
  • Building reusable patterns and foundations, such as shared components and design system integrations, so products stay scalable and safe to evolve
  • Mentoring and pairing with engineers, including client and distributed teams, on modern React and front-end practices
  • Communicating technical concepts clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Learning and adapting quickly across a variety of technologies, tools, and client platforms, including enterprise systems you may not have worked with before
  • Performing other duties as assigned

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of software development experience
  • Deep experience with React and Redux (or comparable state management), including application design
  • Strong TypeScript experience, including integrating front ends with REST APIs and backend platforms
  • Experience with React unit and integration testing, and with end-to-end testing
  • Demonstrated code review leadership on React codebases
  • Experience authoring and maintaining GitHub Actions workflows and administering GitHub repositories
  • Experience building accessible, responsive UIs, ideally within a shared design system
  • Strong communication, collaboration, and mentoring skills
  • Ability to work effectively across multiple projects and technologies

Experience with Vitest, Playwright, Snyk, SonarQube, Cursor or other AI-assisted development tools, Next.js, AWS or other cloud platforms, or enterprise platforms such as IBM TRIRIGA is highly valued.

As a senior engineer, you'll often be the technical face of Bellwood to our clients. You should be comfortable leading technical conversations with client stakeholders, translating business needs into clear technical plans, setting expectations and pushing back when needed, and building the trust that turns engagements into long-term partnerships.
