About the Opportunity
micro1 is engaging experienced Senior Software Engineers to contribute to a customer project focused on training and improving next-generation AI systems.
In this role, you will apply your software engineering expertise to create realistic, challenging coding tasks for AI systems and develop deterministic verifiers that accurately distinguish valid solutions from incorrect implementations. Your work will help evaluate how AI models reason about software development, debugging, feature implementation, and complex programming problems.
Prior AI experience is not required—your software engineering expertise and technical judgment are the primary focus.
Responsibilities
- Design realistic, challenging coding tasks involving feature implementation, debugging, and software engineering problem-solving.
- Develop deterministic verifiers that accept reasonable valid solutions and reject incorrect or invalid outputs.
- Build and maintain scalable backend services and APIs.
- Implement complex software features across diverse programming languages and technology stacks.
- Analyze and resolve software bugs, performance bottlenecks, and system-level issues.
- Refactor existing codebases to improve maintainability, reliability, scalability, and performance.
- Develop and maintain automated tests to validate functionality and output consistency.
- Review code for correctness, quality, maintainability, security, and performance.
- Apply strong algorithmic and software engineering principles when designing technical tasks and evaluating solutions.
- Document technical requirements, verifier logic, implementation decisions, and edge cases.
- Collaborate with technical teams to refine tasks, validation criteria, and project requirements.
Required Qualifications
- Strong backend software engineering experience in one or more of:

- Proven experience building scalable services and APIs.
- Strong debugging and troubleshooting abilities.
- Experience with performance optimization and automated testing.

- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent technical communication skills.
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment.
