Senior SQL Server DBA (SQL Server)

hirify.global is a global digital distributor of electronic components building an internal Global Engineering Organization to strengthen software delivery and production ownership.

What you will do

• Own the day-to-day operation, reliability, performance, and recoverability of SQL Server and related database environments across production, QA, UAT, staging, and development.
• Maintain and improve backup, restore, recovery validation, retention, disaster recovery, and high-availability procedures, including AlwaysOn Availability Groups and replication.
• Monitor database health, storage, jobs, blocking, deadlocks, replication, high-availability status, and backup completion.
• Diagnose performance issues involving queries, execution plans, indexing, statistics, locking, tempdb pressure, and resource contention.
• Review schemas, stored procedures, database migrations, deployment dependencies, rollback procedures, and production impact with software engineering teams.
• Support production incident escalation, root-cause analysis, operational documentation, ETL/ELT, reporting feeds, monitoring, alerting, and capacity planning.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in a hands-on production DBA, database engineering, or data platform role.
• Strong production experience with Microsoft SQL Server and SQL Server performance tuning, including execution plans, indexing, statistics, query optimization, locking, blocking, deadlocks, and capacity planning.
• Experience with backup and restore, recovery testing, disaster recovery, and high availability in business-critical environments.
• Experience supporting production incidents, urgent defect investigations, root-cause analysis, and post-incident remediation.
• Ability to review schema changes, stored procedures, database migrations, query patterns, and data access designs with software engineering teams.
• Strong understanding of data integrity, access control, database security, permission management, ETL/ELT, scheduled jobs, and data integration processes.

Nice to have

• SQL Server Enterprise features, AlwaysOn Availability Groups, failover testing, backup compression, partitioning, Query Store, Extended Events, and performance monitoring tools.
• Experience with Windows Server, IIS-backed applications, Active Directory-integrated access models, Azure SQL, Azure Managed Instance, or AWS RDS for SQL Server.
• Experience with PostgreSQL, MySQL, Redis, Elasticsearch, MongoDB, SSIS, Airflow, dbt, Azure Data Factory, or similar technologies.
• Experience with data warehousing, analytics platforms, Power BI feeds, reporting databases, operational data stores, or integration databases.
• Experience in electronic components, technology distribution, supply chain, logistics, manufacturing, e-commerce, or similar B2B environments.
