Experienced SAS Macro Programmer
Location: Bangalore/Hyderabad/Remote
Experience Required: 6+ years of Statistical Programming experience
Key Responsibilities:
- Create detailed macro requirements documents describing functionality, inputs, parameters, outputs, validation rules, and processing logic.
- Develop, validate, and maintain SAS macros following departmental programming standards.
- Create validation documentation, test case files, and test programs to verify macro functionality, inputs, file formats, outputs, and error handling.
- Perform peer reviews of macro code and requirements documents to ensure compliance with coding and documentation standards.
- Collaborate with developers and clinical subject matter experts to define requirements and resolve issues.
- Debug, troubleshoot, optimize, and enhance macros for performance, reliability, and reusability.
- Develop robust error-checking, validation, and logging routines within macros.
- Strong expertise in SAS Macro Programming, Base SAS, Advanced SAS, and PROC SQL.
- Experience with reporting, process automation, and utility development.
- Working knowledge of R and Python preferred.
- Advanced SAS Certification and clinical programming experience preferred.
- Excellent analytical, documentation, problem-solving, and communication skills.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong expertise in Base SAS and Advanced SAS Programming.
- Deep understanding of SAS Macro Language, including advanced macro development techniques.
- Extensive experience with PROC SQL, data integration, and complex data joins.
- Proven experience developing validation programs, test cases, and quality control documentation.
- Experience reviewing technical specifications, requirements documents, and programming deliverables.
- Excellent troubleshooting, debugging, and performance optimization skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively with developers, statisticians, and clinical teams.
- Ability to independently analyze requirements and design scalable programming solutions.
