About the role In this role, you will facilitate the assessment and issuing of permits and approvals for proposed land use and developments, while providing professional, customer-focused advice and support. Work type: Permanent, full-time. Classification: Band 6, commencing at $98,633 pa plus super. Key responsibilities include: Investigate and evaluate use and development applications, within a team environment. Analyse applications to determine compliance with relevant legislation and ensure applications are dealt with in the prescribed time limits. Assist with the issue of Planning permits to provide a timely service delivery. Assist with the coordination of input from various internal and external departments and the general public to meet set deadlines. Represent the City of Greater Geelong in public forums, legal proceedings and appeal hearings. Mentoring of student planner and other junior staff as required. Assist the public with planning advice and information through written correspondence, over the counter and phone enquiries and in pre-application meetings. About you To be successful in this role, you will have… Essential Experience: Substantial experience in local government town planning. A good understanding, practical knowledge and ability to interpret town planning legislation and practices and associated legislation to interpret their meaning Experience and willingness to mentor staff. Possess a current, valid Victorian driver’s licence. Ability to resolve conflict and negotiate outcomes. Ability to manage change and be innovative Preferred candidates will be required to undergo a National Police Check as part of the recruitment process (funded by the City).
